The opening scene of this film is extremely funny, but what follows is a large dissappointment. I guess this film is primarily aimed at children with its cute "cats versus dogs" theme but in reality the story line is probably too complicated and not that interesting anyway. To begin with we see a huge brute of a dog chasing a tiny ginger moggy until he is otuwitted and then "dognapped". These chase scenes are a treat but the rest of the film is short on laughs. The cat brigade attempts to stop the mad profesor (Jeff Goldblum) from developing a potion to stop humans being allergic to dogs. Our hero beagle puppy somehow has to protect the laboratory, but his incompetence puts the research in jeopardy. Some convoluted scheming by the chief cat sees them take over a factory; kidnap the scientist; and attempt to reserve the potions effects. Look out for the Russian agent cat who is sent to the lab. Her scenes are fun but overall the film is a grave let down and the children in the cinema on my visit were bored quite early on. Us adults didn't think much to it either!
