Advantages: Wonderful visuals, beautiful design, good plot, likable characters Disadvantages: Some iffy dialogue, not Miyazaki's best work, the publics phobia of animes!
Watching Castle In The Sky, it becomes all too easy to forget that this was a film made as long ago as 1986 (that’s around eighteen years for anyone who’s counting). As animation goes, it really wouldn’t look out of place alongside the latest Disney releases, though as Japanese animes seem destined never to truly take off in the West, this charming tale will inevitably miss the recognition it deserves. Directed and scripted by Hayao ... ...and amusing Castle Of Cagliostro and recent Oscar-winner Spirited Away, I wasted no time in snapping up Castle In The Sky when it was finally granted a U.K release in November 2003, some seventeen years after it originally appeared in Japan. Better late than never, I suppose…

I Pre-ordered this on Amazon.co.uk as soon as I heard that it was due a region 2 release, then had to wait and wait until eventually it came (No fault of Amazon, the wait was due to my early pre-order, it came the day after release).
It has been re-released by Buena Vista, a subdivision of Disney with a new soundtrack, new dubbing and under the name Castle in the Sky rather than the original and ... ...puta’ meaning something else in Spanish and the high Spanish speaking population in America).
The cover has a great picture on the front of the flying island with Pazu and Sheeta in the foreground. The box is mainly blue and has ‘The Studio Ghibli Collection’ across the top on a gold background. Beneath that it has ‘Castle in the Sky’ and a sticker saying ‘Featuring the voices of James Van Der Beek and Anna Paquin’. ...
