Before i even saw this film, i knew it would be good, simply because Tom Hanks is in it.
The film is a gripping insight into the twists and turns of how the life of this american guy washed up on a desert island changes dramatically from making sure parcels arrive on time, to having to gather hios own food, with nothing to talk to but his volleyball (humurously named "Wilson"). Although at 143 minutes in length, to take pieces out would be to seriously detract from the storyline. Helen Hunt is also good as Hanks' girlfriend.
Overall, an excellent film.
