'Cast Away' has been met with mixed reviews, with most of the anathema arising from the blatant advertising of Fed Ex. However, despite this somewhat annoying product placement, the film as a whole is an impressive work. Tom Hanks, despite his failure to win his third oscar for 'Saving Private Ryan', must have a better chance with this vintage performance. Large parts of the film have little dialogue, but this does not seem a diadvantage for Hanks, who is able to use his full acting prowess, with the quieter parts of the film often being much more powerful than the spoken parts. Other credit must go to the director Robert Zemeckis, for some inspired imagery and his seamless connection of one scene to the next, and indeed to Helen Hunt's remarkable screen rapport with Hanks. Overall - 6/10

Hi, this isn't at all bad for a first review. I drifted around between a "helpful" and a "fairly helpful" though. I think just a little more detail would have swung the opinion straight into the "helpful" section - but I gave it the "helpful" in the end because of your comments about Hunt's interaction with Hanks.

Advantages: brilliant acting, great special effects, tonnes of special features, cheap Disadvantages: feels as if special effects are prioty over acting, storyline wasn't as good
