James Bond is back and he's better than ever!
Casino Royale is Daniel Craig's first outing as the super secret agent, James Bond. He has now made another movie that sort of follows on from this one but I much prefer Casino Royale.
What I like about this film is that they were not afraid to how a gentler side, a romantic side and also a side of Bond where he actually gets hurt and injured and ends up with a few scars on his face. In other Bond movies he generally escapes from a bomb or something without a scratch on him but in this one you see lots of blood and it's nice to see even though he is pretty slick, he still gets in scrapes. Daniel Craig is really great and I think he really does make a good Bond. He of course has a lovely body and yes, there is a scene with him in his swimming trunks coming out of the ocean looking devilishly handsome. He also has amazingly beautiful eyes that show all his emotions.
This film actually show James Bond before he has his, "license to kill." It sort of goes back to the start of his career and shows him in the very beginning which you would think would be weird, considering we have see all the subsequent parts of his life, but they actually did it well and it really did not need to explain why this was the start of his career. When Bond completes two assassinations, M grants him his 00 status and sends him on a mission to face the baddie, Le Chiffre.
To me Le Chiffre is an excellent baddie. He has this weird stare and look in his eyes that is really quite chilling. He also is sick and at different times during the film blood seeps from his eye which is truly disgusting!
It's in this film that I think Bond falls in love for the first and probably the last time, judging from the way he goes on to treat women in the future and establish his playboy status. Once a man is hurt, he never likes to show his emotions again for a long time and this is probably what happens to Bond. M assigns her Treasury Official, Vesper Lynd to look over James. I think they both intrigue each other but should they trust each other. Eva Green plays Vesper. She is really pretty in this film and I think does a really good job.
There are some really great casino scenes in this film and if you like watching that you will definitely enjoy the high stakes involved. The action of course is great with a great scene near the end in Venice where a whole building falls into the water with people still inside.
There are also some great scenery scenes in this movie, just like in every James Bond film from the beach to the coast, just stunning places where you would absolutely love to visit.
The DVD is rated 12 as it contains one scene of torture and strong action violence. It runs for approximately 2 hours and 18 minutes. Special features include Becoming Bond, Bond Girls are forever and a Chris Cornell Music Video.

I'm sorry for the H, but for this to be a full DVD review, I would prefer to see a review of the extras in the same detail as your review of the film, not just a brief mention of them.
