Sitting down infront of the TV with my brother revising for my A Levels, my brother then decided to go and get the Pixar boxset from our DVD collection. After moaning that I did not want to watch Cars for several minutes because I thought it would be a terrible film, my brother put the film on anyway. It was his choice. He is 5 years older. How lucky was I that he decided this for us. What a film.
Cars is again a great hit by Pixar and one I would recommend to all families, for kids and adults. It is a fantastic film with great cast voices and is full of hilarious characters. I cant remember the last time I had so much fun 'revising'.
"Brief Plot"
Cars is set in a world filled by anthropomorphic cars and other vehicles. The plot is about a rookie car racer called Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) who is part of the infamous 'Piston Cup Tournament'. Upon his travels to the last race he falls out of his truck and due to having no headlights and wing mirrors he finds it hard to find where he is going. While nearly the entire nation is searching for him, he winds up at a rundown derelict town known as Radiator Springs, taken off the map due to the introduction of the Interstate roads years ago. The town holds great heritage and when McQueen inadvertently destroys the road, the town folk orders him to repave the road. While he is there he gets to know the hilarious characters in the town. It is these people who help him in his race to try and win the Piston Cup. Finally, he has a family.
"Cast and characters"
Owen Wilson has doen wonders in this role, providing the his character with a great personality. He is the cool rookie who thinks he doesnt need help from nobody, an ignorant lost car. For a time I beleived that Owen Wilson was not the voice. I just belived that cars were actually talking . Dont ask me how, but pixar can do anything as you already know.
The cast is filled with big names ie. Bonnie Hunt, Paul Newman, George Carlin and Michael Keaton. The film consists of several celebrity voices such as Jay leno, Michael Schumacher and Mario Andretti aswell.
Some of the more memorable characters are 'mater' who is a tow truck. He is possibly the funniest pixar character in this film, who endures in genius past times such as tractor tipping (take on cow tipping), and driving backwards. He also whips out some brilliant one liners that made me crack up.
This film is great and wonderful story that should be seen by all. I put this film off in my mind and I rejected it before seeing it. Now it has been on Sky Premiere for the past week I have seen it upto 4 times now.
"DVD Features"
He extra DVD features include deleted scenes, information of how the directors came up with the film, animated shorts. Interestlingly they also show a few clips of mater mocking the rest of the town with gags. The story is the most interesting showing the reality of events that the interstate has had on several towns.
"Opinion and Conclusion"
5 star film. Watch it. Don't deny yourself a great film like I almost did. You can do nothing but enjoy this film, child, adult, or senior citizen. It is a film you are going to watch more than once so you better buy the DVD. In fact on the DVD there are several really good features as mentioned above.

Advantages: Excellent documentary about the biggest conspiracy in the auto industry Disadvantages: Will no doubt make you angry and outrage that electric cars are not still existing
