Advantages: Funny , Different Disadvantages: Not a lot
Carry On Camping has got to be one of my favourite films. I am not usually a fan of 'old' films , so it is quite strange that I like this film. I could watch it over and over again without getting tired of it.
Carry On Camping is a British comedy film, released in the United Kingdom on May 29th 1969. It was directed by Gerald Thomas and stars Barbara Windsor (Peggy in Eastenders) and Sid James as well as a few other well known actors. Running time of the movie is 88 minutes. The film is a PG.
Carry On Camping begins with Sid and Bernie taking their girlfriends Joan and Anthea to the cinema to watch a film about camping. Because the film contains a lot of nudity , the men think it would be an excellent idea to go on a camping trip ; thinking that it will be similar to what they seen on screen.
When they arrive at the camping site ...
Advantages: It's a Carry On film! Disadvantages: The glory days are over. Too few regulars!
There's a heck of a lot wrong with this film, but I still found myself enjoying it.
The major flaw is the script. Written by David Pursall and Jack Seddon it doesn't even begin to capture the real Carry On atmosphere. It tries, but alas Misters Pursall and Seddon are not up to the standards set by Norman Hudis and Talbot Rothwell. But the cast do what they can with the script and do a fair old job of bringing it to life.
But there again the casting also is flawed. So many new faces and too few regulars. Kenneth Connor comes off best of the regulars who do appear. Although it's a good performance it is far from mind blowing and certainly not one of Kenny's best. Jack Douglas, fast becoming a leading regular, is rather good and I've always found his twitching antics rather amusing. His twitching certainly makes this film funnier ...
Advantages: You will not want to take your eyes off the screen all the way through this film. Disadvantages: n/a
This is the film adaptation of the Stephen King novel of the same name. Carrie White (excellently portrayed by Sissy Spacek) is a shy and unassuming schoolgirl who is the brunt of her classmate’s jokes. This is mainly the fault of her overbearingly religious mother Margaret White (Piper Laurie) who preaches the gospel to everyone and everything, including her own daughter.
The film begins as Carrie is showering after her gym lesson and she suddenly begins to bleed. Carrie has been taught nothing about puberty by her mother so has no idea that this is her first period and is a completely normal part of growing up. She automatically thinks that she is bleeding to death and begins to scream. The other girls in the changing room cannot believe her reaction to this and they take it as an opportunity to taunt her further by ...
