youngsters. Vorderman attributes her new slim shape and bundles of new-found energy to a detox diet. Her28 Day Detox Dietis not a diet video as such. It is a 28-day plan to revamp the way you eat, plan and think about food. Assisted by "detox guru" Ko Chohan (who created the plan), Carol explains her own trials with diets that didn't work, illustrated by "before" photos from when she was two stone heavier and the "after" footage now. Carol makes it sound easy and is a charming host; her own physical beauty is compelling evidence for the plan's success. An illustrated card--the free 28 Day Detox Diet Guide--provides a thumbnail guide to the diet's principles. Basically, to flush out impurities and bloating, it suggests eating lots of fruit, veggies and such. No dairy, any meat-- not even fish!--or sugar. No tea or coffee. Although the video lacks intense or scientific detail, Carol's approach is fresh, easy-to-understand and a joy to watch. Following three very different detox guinea pigs--a single mum, a single career girl and a married woman--via their video diaries, we are shown the real difficulties behind following the detox plan. This is the video for anyone who wants to lose weight and gain more energy, and is willing to make drastic, if eventually delicious and healthy changes to his or her lifestyle for 28 days. --Karen Krizanovich
28 Day Detox Diet. She has teamed up once again with Ko Chohan, creator of the detox diet, to provide guidance to those wanting to lose weight, gain energy and feel better about themselves. If you are new to the detox diet, don't fret: the book covers the same ground as the video, explaining what detoxing is, why we should do it and how to go about it. Unlike the video it then offers recipes for those stuck on what to do with pulses, vegetables, grains and not much else. It also suggests ways of integrating the principles of detox into your life once you've completed the 28-day plan. Vorderman is a friendly guide on this detox tour. She admits that it's not easy--and she's right. No carbohydrates, dairy products, meat, caffeine or alcohol. But the idea isn't as scary as it first sounds. The strict guidelines are only for 28 days, not a lifetime. The genius of this book is that Vorderman somehow convinces you that cutting out everything you love from your diet--chocolate, coffee, cheese--is not only a good idea, but is an attainable one. The recipes are easy enough to follow and quite tasty, though stocking up your cupboard with the vital ingredients and supplements may be costly. Don't be fooled, this is a complete lifestyle change for most people and will be a hard slog. But, if you give it a shot and stick to it, it seems you will reap the rewards. --Amelia Crook

...magazine. I indignantly thought
'hmmph, don't wanna know, thank you kindly!' Whats more I didnt! I left it for a few days until I was particulally bored. But curiosity did get the better of me. I read the article all about Carol's detoxdiet plan. I soon learned I could find out more about it by buying a book or video. So I went out to WH SMITH's and bought the book
'CarolVorderman's Detox for Life' The 28dayDetoxDiet and Beyond.

Advantages: Really works, relatively easy to do Disadvantages: Have to buy lots of new, different foods
...I first tried this diet after a Christmas of eating, drinking and no exercise and I was shocked at how quickly it made me feel healthier.
I wanted to lose a bit of weight but become more healthy and stop being bloated after eating.
The recipes and meal plans are simple to follow and most taste nice. For example, the ratatouie recipe tastes fab and is really good for you. You can also make larger quantities of the recipes and freeze them for future use.
However, it meant that I had to buy lots of new foods (nuts, pulses, oils) and fresh vegetables every few days, which costs quite a bit. Plus I did miss eating meat and fish!
The book does allow you to do your own thing slightly , as once you get the idea of the types of things you can eat, you can make up your own recipes and add different things to her recipes to make them taste as...

The plan
---------
My sister wanted to do this Detox thing. It sounded more than a bit gimmicky to me, but to keep my darling little sister happy I sat and watched the video of the plan with her. Basically what I took away from the video was this:
No-No Food & Drink
Wheat
Meat
Sugar
Dairy
Artificial additives
Caffeine
Alcohol
Cigarettes
For many, the last three would cause the ?Oh my Goodness, I could Never give that up!? But for me it was the prospect of giving up my bread and dairy that set...
