England last beat the West Indies in their own backyard, but, with some match winning performances from Steve Harmison, Graham Thorpe, Matthew Hoggard, and Andrew Flintoff England pulled off a truly historic series win. It all started with a tremendous bowling performance by Harmison in Jamaica where he took a staggering 7 for 12. In Trinidad England cruised to a seven wicket victory with the help of Harmison's 6 for 61 and Thorpe's 90 in the first innings. Then to Barbados where in the first innings Flintoff bowled 5 for 58 and Thorpe's 119 not out rekindled England's chances of a win. Some explosive bowling by Hoggard in the second innings when he grabbed three wickets in a row destroyed the West Indies middle order, and England were 3-0 up in the 4 match series. Then, incredibly in the fourth and final Test in Antigua, Brian Lara restored some home pride by scoring a world record 400 not out and thus denying England thewhitewash they so wanted. It was the second time Lara had broken the world record, also at Antigua and also against England ten years earlier. Highlights of this amazing Test series are now captured on this DVD to marvel at over and over again.

Advantages: Action and adventure, great scenes, Orlando Bloom, Johnny Depp Disadvantages: A bit long
Pirates of the Caribbean at World end is the third movie in the Pirates trilogy. It follows the crew of the Black Pearl (the Pirate ship) rescuing Jack Sparrow from Davy Jones' locker and then preparing to fight the East Indian Trading Company who are intent on extinguishing piracy. I'm not going to spoil the rest of the plot/movie for you as I believe you should see it for yourself so I will just now review the rest of the DVD and what I thought of the film/films.
At the box office it was actually the most successful film of 2007 and is the second most successful film in the series. I think even if action and adventure films aren't for you (they aren't my most favourite) this would still be a film you like as it is very funny in places, the sets are brilliant and the action really is very well choreographed. My one complaint with it ...
Advantages: Great fun all the family can enjoy Disadvantages: It ends too soon
Pirates of the Caribbean - The Curse of the Black Pearl
Captain Jack Sparrow?s pirate life is thrown into turmoil after his former first mate, Captain Barbossa mutinied and commandeered his ship, the infamous Black Pearl.
Barbossa left Jack on a deserted island thinking that would be the last he saw him, but unfortunately for Barbossa (but not for us) Jack managed to escape.
We catch up with Captain Jack several years later sailing into Port Royal (I say sailing , but the boat he has commandeered is sinking and he?s more bobbing along than sailing really). Once he's docked in Port Royal his mission is to find a replacement ship and fast.
His plan however is sidetracked when whilst trying to charm two of the Governor?s men to let him board their ship he sees a lady fall from the cliff top. The lady in question turns out to ...
Advantages: Too many to mention Disadvantages: Will be ages before it is out on DVD
I have just been to see the film for the 3rd time! Yep 3rd! Had to go twice last week with my youngest son and as my eldest hadn't seen it, as he was away on holiday, we had to watch it again for him! :o)
When I was in Disneyland...... Many, many years ago (23 years actually!) I went on a strange ride called Pirates of the Caribbean.... Which promptly broke down as we were under a bridge by a pirate swigging rum and singing a pirate song! At the time I did wonder why this ride was even there... I know the animatronics were good, but nearly all the other rides had something too do with Disney Films.... Was this one I missed?
Imagine my delight when I found out they had actually made a film of the ride, rather than the other way round! My first thought was "I wonder if it will break down half way through?" And my second thought ...
