The Care Bears are a group of adorable, furry friends each with a special caring mission. They help teach people how to care. Every Care Bear wears a bright-colored tummy picture that tells the world who they are and what is their special area of caring.
In their cloud-land home, called Care-a-lot, the Care Bears help each other learn to care. Sometimes they magically bring a child with a special caring concern ... ...caring person. Sometimes, too, the Care Bears have to speed down to Earth to help with some crisis in caring. Wherever the Care Bears go, and whatever the Care Bears do, in their soft, fuzzy, and funny way, they share their special gift of caring with everyone they meet

Im sure everyone over the age of 20 can remember the carebears throughout their childhood. I know i certainly can and had many teddies and figures of them. (which i still have now - somewhere)

Sometimes they magically bring a child with a special caring concern to Care-a-lot so that they can better teach them some of the finer points of being a caring person. Sometimes, too, the Care Bears have to speed down to Earth to help with some crisis in caring. Wherever the Care Bears go, and whatever the Care Bears do, in their soft, fuzzy, and funny way, they share their special gift of caring with everyone they meet
Over the last couple of years I have recently noticed that they have been slowly introduced back into the toyshops, (although slighty different to how they were) with merchandise such as teddies, books, videos, dvds, clothing and much more.
And through this (and with slight encouragement from my friend - an original fan) my daughter who has just turned 4 is already a massive fan.
Amongst her collection of carebear goodies she has the:
--------------------------------------------------------- Care Bears ~ Volume 3 ~ The magic shop ----------------------------------------------------------
Originally we bought the video of this from somerfield for £5.99 but she received the dvd in a tripple pack of dvds including rainbow brite (another old fav) and some remake of sleeping beauty for christmas.
The dvd is made by JETIX - which is a cartoon channel on sky and perhaps cable television (although no episodes are shown on the channel) It is exactly the same as the video - no hidden extras as many dvds have.
The DVD includes 6 episodes and is 1hr and 6 mins long (so that is 11 mins each episode - which is about right to keep a young childs attention)
The episodes include: 01, The Magic Shop 02, Mayor for a day 03, The Night the stars went out 04, Concrete rain 05, Dry Spell 06, Drab City
In each episode something bad always seems to happen, and the care bears are always there to help and put things right. They explain why it is wrong to do bad things and what you should do to put things right. Many of the episeodes have morals to their stories.
I think it is a lovely way to introduce children into the act of caring for others and teaching between right and wrong. Even if they dont fully understand whats happening, I imagine that they will love it just as much.
I have to say that after watching the many Care Bears dvds and videos we have obtained - I have noticed something about them. Not just the fact that they are highly entertaining and fun and kids seem to love them, but many of the Care Bear graphics seem to be different. I think it depends on who the dvds and videos have been made by. The JETIX ones seem to be of the older variety, as she also has volumes one and two in the same collection and the graphics in those are the same as in volume 3
After remembering the videos of the Care bears I used to watch as a child - i was a bit taken back by how different they looked on this dvd as I couldnt remember them looking like that. They are still all the same colour and have the same names, although the way they have been drawn is slighty different.. Not so up-to-date. (pethaps you may have only seen the older ones though)
Still this hasnt had any bad affect with my daughter, as she still loves watching them over and over again and has not yet once mentioned that they look different.
I would reccommend this dvd to everybody, especially anyone who wants to introduce the Care Bears to their child or to anyone who wants to reminisce over the good old days.
It is Rated U - so it is suitable for everyone
Like i said we received ours as a present, although i have seen it advertised on many online stores for under £5
