This is the 2nd movie in a series of three, ive yet to find the third one so im not sure if it actually exists, it was released in 1986.
THE CARE BEARS- The Care Bears are a group of adorable, furry friends, they help teach people how to care. Every Care Bear wears a bright-colored tummy picture that tells the world who they are. They can use the powers of their icon to create a "care bear stare" a beam of good feeling which eminates from the tummy helping defeat evil They travel down to earth to help unhappy children in trouble and show them how to care for others.
They live in Care-A-Lot a fantasy land in the clouds from where they can see all the people of earth. They use special cloud mobiles(cars made from clouds) to help them get around.
In the first movie they encounter the care bear cousins, animal counterparts who had yet to discover their special powers. With the care bears help they each earn their tummy powers.
The care bears were released as cuddly toys as well as having a cartoon series and other movies.
THE STORY- The film is set before the first movie despite being called "a new generation"
The baby care bears and care bear cousins are being looked after by 2 older Carers a bear called True Heart and a horse called Noble Heart. They are being pursued across the ocean by an evil entity called Dark Heart. They are led to a safe place and the babies grow up into trainee care bears and care bear cousins still looking to the 2 older carers for guidence.
The 2 elders have to visit earth to help a youngster who is unhappy, while they are gone a mysterious stranger turns up and causes chaos in the care bears home land. True Heart and Noble Heart arrive back just in time to stop the stranger but realising it is Dark Heart leave again to deal with him once and for all.
Time skips on a bit and there is trouble down on earth, a childrens summer camp is being taken over by misery and bad feelings and the care bears have to go and help. A girl called Christy is at the centre of the trouble and as they try and help any of the bears dissapear.
The usual good guy versus bad guy battle happens(as much of a battle as a care bear stare can involve) and it seems the bears are loosing until they recieve a little human help, finally the good part of Dark Heart, which was kept deep within, wins over and you have your traditional happy ending.
CAST- As this is a cartoon the actors are purely voices

I picked my copy up for £5 and you wont have to pay more than that in the shops now, online its available from as little as 20p!
Pal format Cert- U Stereo Colour
There is a wide range of care bears merchandise available include many dvds, toys, games and recently released soft toys.
MY OPINION- This is a cute movie and is enjoyable providing you dont try and get too into it, after all it is meant for kids.
Sadly i remember the original movie which causes some problems while watching the 2nd, for example at the beginning of this movie the care bears and cousins are all together while in the first film they meet for the first time half way through the film. In the 2nd movie the cousins already have their symbols but they dont get these until the end of the first film. Grams bear is no where to be seen in this movie whereas Noble Heart and True Heart on not in the first and there are new bears which are not in the first film. The voices are also different and noticabley so, Brave Heart Lion and Bright Heart Racoon in particular.
It is brightly animated and features the same daft songs as the care bear episodes and film are famous for. It teaches good lessons on being yourself and working hard, its great for kids as you're teaching them not to cheat and be a good friend without them even realising it. I would say it is definately more a cartoon film for girls, the baddy isnt bad enough and the bears to cute and fluffy for boys.
I do enjoy the film as a piece of lighthearted nostalgia but prefer the early scenes where the bears are cubs running around in nappies and doing the things toddlers do, they grow up unrealistically fast though(as they go from cubs to bears the children stay exactly the same)
My little ones are happy to have this on in the background and i dont mind them watching it as theres very little peril involved in the story. I recommend it to people with younger children or care bear collectors but not for a night in front of the tv eating pizza with the lads!

Review of Care Bears - The Movie 2 - A New Generation (Animated) (DVD)
Advantages: Nicey nicey film for kids. Disadvantages: No extras.
The care bears movie 2, the next generation is the follow up to the care bears movie.
The story takes place at a summer camp, where dark heart befriends a little girl and makes a deal with her - she will be good at all the games and sports at the camp, if she helps him to trap the care bears. Luckily, 2 other children at the camp have made friends with the bears, so they too are there to help her.
Elsewhere, we see how the care bears and care bear ... ...is full of happy songs, that will stick in your head, and the film full of sentiment, while telling kids to just be nice to one another.
This film was made in 1986, and still looks good - because it is animated it cant age. The dvd can be watched only in english and in mono and doesnt offer any subtitles. It runs for 1hr 13 mins.
Unfortuanatly there are no added extras or special features to this film - not even a scene selection. ...

Advantages: the children will love this and the adults also Disadvantages: none to report
The care bears are back again, and with this there just as sweet as ever!
It seems too me they should be collecting their teddy bare pensions by now but they must have some healthy lifestyle because the care bears are going strong. Good storys that have their own little way of teaching our children the correct way to act towards other peoples feelings can only be a good thing right! This is one of those dvd that the children will play over and over ...
