...times into a mirror, the Candyman comes to take her back to hell with him.
In various parts of the film we get some more of the back story behind the Candyman, we see him being murdered in the field by the mob of locals in revenge for him "defiling" the slave owner's (Annie's relative) daughter. It turns out that they had a daughter, who was Annie Tarrant's great grandmother, leading to the whole situation where Annie must go back to the slave quarters ... ...mind there is a third Candyman film, which will confuse the whole issue entirely!
The film featured some very effective music which built up the tension in the movie, and led to you actually caring about the teacher, and her pupils at the conclusion.

Advantages: (Straining here...) The producer dies a rich man? Disadvantages: Shatters the suspension of disbelief that made the first film so mythically grand
Take one great film, made magnificent by the enigma and mystery of the central concept and character. Remake it. Feature one of the bit-players of the first film to establish continuity, then wreck that continuity by ignoring completely how the first film ended. Remove the enigma and mystery of film A by insisting on explaining away every little detail with complete nonsese, snatching away the credibility said mystery endowed film A with. Advantages: Pacey ending Disadvantages: Poorly structured, cheap retread of first film
The first Candyman film was perfectly structured and elegantly paced. The sequel is a painfull retread that has none of the suspense of the first. Briefly the Candyman goes to New Orleans and starts murdering people again. It's not that important why. The direction seemed too clumsy - for one thing Candyman is shown way too soon in the film. The ending is well filmed though and looks great - there are lots of shocks but you can't help shake the feeling ...
