Camp Rock was the 2008 Disney Channel Original Movie, and was shown on the Disney Channel in the Summer of last year, and its now a huge success.
The show is about a young girl, Mitchie Torres. She has been fantasizing about going to Camp Rock, a music related Summer Camp all year, but her family can't afford the fee's and so she has to get used to the idea that its just not going to happen to her. Until her mum Connie (a caterer) gets hired as the chef and Mitchie gets into Camp Rock for a cut price.
When Mitchie gets to camp she meets up with many people, and she finds out that Shane Gray (Joe Jonas, Jonas Brothers) is going to be a star guest at the camp. To fit in with the other girls at camp, especially Tesse Tyler whose mum is a famous singer, Mitchie makes up a superstar lifestyle for herself, and tells everyone her mum is a record producer, when in fact she's making her "friends" meals every night.
When Mitchie gets closer and closer to Shane, and her lies don't seem to be catching up with her, she is loving her time at Camp, but everything can't stay like that...!
Shane meanwhile has heard a mysterious female singer and her voice has tempted him into stopping his bad ways, and going back to writing the music which he once loved to make. If only he could find his mystery voice...!!!
Mitchie is having a ball, her confidence is booming, and she is getting ready for final jam...but Tesse has different ideas when she learns that Mitchie was lying about her mums career, and when she gets jealous of her blossoming friendship with Shane, and she gets her and her only real friend at Camp Caitlyn kicked out of Final Jam, scuffering their chances of singing in front of their family and friends, and winning the chance of recording a song with Shanes band.
As always, I won't ruin the ending for you! But as with most kids films, its very predictable pretty much right from the start. But the film is a great kids film, much like High School Musical in many ways, lots of songs along the way, and an "ok" storyline, its a good film when theres nothing else to watch, and its a great film for youngsters (around 5-16 years old)!
