Dorris day in this great old time favourite country and Weston style film where she playes a young toboyish lady the cast
Doris Day ... Calamity Jane Howard Keel ... Wild Bill Hickok Allyn Ann McLerie ... Katie Brown (as Allyn McLerie) Philip Carey ... Lieutenant Danny Gilmartin Dick Wesson ... Francis Fryer Paul Harvey ... Henry Miller Chubby Johnson ... Rattlesnake Gale Robbins ... Adelaid Adams
Story this is a love story and a family entering comedy all in one set in 1953 in deadwood South Dakota where there is a stage house the golden garter that is slowing going to the dogs so glam says she will go to the windy city Chicago and bring back the lovely adelaid Adam's but what she does not know at first is the lady she takes is the wanabe maide Katie brown well after Frances getting there to stage and being found to be a man they were not happy with clam but gave katie a go only clam thought it would be good for Katie to live with her in her old shack what a dump till Katie and glam do it up a woman's touch well that's not all Katie does up she does clam up to to be a lovey women not dressed in old rags there are only one thing poor glam don't like that is that katie is after clams man and gets him Lt. Danny Gilmartin but its OK as after an upsetting scene glam realise she has a secret love in none only wild bill hilcock who as the end she marries
music there are lots of songs in the film there as followed the deadwood stage my secret love the black hills and many more
my favorite scene well it has to be when glam goes in to the dressing room and sees who she thinks is adelaid singing and dancing in nearly nothing poor Katie thinks clam is a man because the way she dressed i also love the scene where glam gets the regimental ball tacks off her old trench coat to reveal a lovely dress every one has to double take as she is stunning
I would recomend this film to any one of any age your soon be singing take me back to the black hills

Good review of the film itself, although I see you've posted this as a DVD review, but you've not mentioned the DVD features. Are there any extras? If so, what are they and are they any good? If you add to this, or if you change it to be posted as a "Film Only" review, which can be done by accessing "edit review" above the review and changing the drop down menu under the "Which format are you reviewing?" question at the bottom, please let me know and I'll re-rate.

I have had to rate a bit lower here, as you've sort of given away the ending by telling us who calamity marries at the end of the film.....also you might want to write up your reviews using Word and editing the typo's using spellchecker.....xxx
