on opposite sides of the law. The story line is familiar, to put it mildly, as car-thief and drug-courier Sandler is set up and busted by Wayans's undercover cop, a man he's come to trust with his life. Dozens of movies, including Quentin Tarantino's greatReservoir Dogs, have tilled this fallow field before. But for once we can actually feel the bonds connecting the two tough guys, and the pain of their falling out, even when the movie dawdles over repetitious squabbling scenes. Cinematographer-turned-director Ernest Dickerson (Juice) gives this modestly budgeted programmer an unusually high visual gloss, with punchy high-speed action scenes that recall the Hong Kong blowout work of John Woo. James Caan leers and glowers entertainingly as a criminal mastermind, and lynx-eyed Kristen Wilson makes a dazzling femme fatale. --David Chute

PERFORMANCE -
The standout feature in this movie is the comedy between Wayans and Sandler. They do really work well together and the chemistry is all there to see. Getting in James Caan as a crime boss was a good move as it made the film a bit more believable with Caan using his reputation and previous roles to portray the character. Other characters are relatively average and nothing really to shout about.

Advantages: Stars Chow Yun-Fat Disadvantages: There's really not that much Kung Fu
just stare you in the face.
I guess the best thing to compare this film to is other John Woo films. We are NOT talking a classic like Face Off that's for sure... and we're not talking the films that probably made Chow Yun-Fat (Hard Boiled and a Better Tomorrow)? But saying that, i guess it's unfair when both of these films are quite different in genre to Bulletproof Monk. Hard Boiled and a Better Tomorrow are adult, violent and full of heavy Kung-Fu action. Bulletproof Monk was always meant to be a light hearted, more family film; if you look at it in this light, i think it succeeds quite well; especially considering it is the director Paul Hunter's debut film. Although with flaws, this film is worth seeing at the cinema - whether you're a fan of kung fu or not. ...
Advantages: Sandler and Wayans Disadvantages: Predictable and a bit confused
after, Colton sends a gang of hired goons to try and silence Archie, they have to put their differences behind them and work as a team.
Bulletproof is a fun enjoyable comedy, but sadly lacks the spark which came in Sandler's later movies such as "The Wedding Singer" and "Little Nicky". It follows the tried and tested plot of two guys who have to get over their grievances to escape from an evil crime boss. Not the most original of plots and Bulletproof does nothing to jazz it up. In reality this film was nothing more than a vehicle to demonstrate the comic talents of Adam Sandler and Damon Wayans. Which, although it's not going to make you cry out loud with laughter, it still has enough funny gags to keep you amused. The best part of the film is the lead up to the failed drugs bust, as you watch the closeness between Archie and Rock as ...
