Thief (1990) They only stop to reload! A close-knit trio of dashing art thieves (Chow Yun-Fat Leslie Cheung and Cherie Chung) undertake one last lucrative job before their planned retirement only to be torn apart when the heist goes awry as the result of a double-cross from their criminal mentor. Once reunited the team resolves to get revenge. Bullet In The Head (1990) Powerful sweeping and uncompromising John Woo pulls out all the stops to deliver a film of unforgettable intensity and emotional gravity that is guaranteed to set the pulse racing with some of the finest action sequences of his distinguished career. When three longtime friends (Tony Leung Jacky Cheung and Waise Lee) become involved in the death of a rival gang member they are forced to leave Hong Kong in order to escape the police. Their only ticket out is a free ride to Saigon working as smugglers on the black market. But it is the late 1960s and with Saigon embroiled in the madness of the Vietnamese war it's very much a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. When their plans to double-cross a local gangster and steal a box of gold from him go awry the men find themselves captured by the Viet Cong and accused of working for the CIA. Incarcerated in a prisoner of war camp their loyalties are tested to the very limit when one of the trio sets about betraying his closest friends... The Killer (1989) Hong Kong's preeminent director John Woo transforms genres from both the East and the West to create this explosive and masterful action film. Featuring Hong Kong's greatest star Chow Yun-Fat as a killer with a conscience trying to pay for an operation to restore the sight of a nightclub singer he accidentally blinded in a shootout the film is an exquisite dissection of morals in a corrupt society highlighted with slow-motion sequences of brilliantly choreographed gun battles on the streets of Hong Kong...

John Woo's ambitious movie went over-schedule and flopped at the local box-office when released in 1990, but has since been recognized as one of the finest productions in HK film history. Newcomers Leung, Cheung and Lee are terrific as the three friends whose lives are devastated by the violence they encounter in a foreign land, and they're matched throughout by Simon Yam as the Eurasian hit-man who rescues them from the worst of their experiences. For all its explosions and gun play, however, BULLET IN THE HEAD is a very human drama, played out against the vast backdrop of the Vietnam conflict, and invested with a palpable sense of love and compassion for its leading characters. Cinematography and editing are world-class, and Woo's dark-hearted script (co-written by Patrick Leung and Janet Chin) incorporates the themes of loyalty and brotherhood which have shaped and defined all of his films since A BETTER TOMORROW (1986). Cheung's final scene is absolutely heartbreaking; classic score by James Wong and Romeo Diaz. Original title: DIP HUET GAAI TAU (Cantonese) or DIE XIE JIE TOU (Mandarin).
Runtime: 126 minutes
DVD also contains extras in the form of interviews and documentary, and also the alternative ending (the ending that John Woo intented for the film to have but changed because audiences at the film first showing disapproved of it).
Advantages: Highly fast paced action drama Disadvantages: none
Bullet in the Head is the story of three friends during the Vietnamese war though they are not actually in it. In my opinion Bullet in the Head is the finest John Woo film ever. It involves his great directing skills form previous John Woo films such as the cut back scene between Ben shooting the Viet Cong captain in the head and Ben shooting Paul in the head which was used in Hand of death. The disregard for the church where a boy is shot in front ... ...Tomorrow The Killer and later on Face/Off. And the friend shooting a friend to end his pain, which was used in The Killer. The ever lasting story of betrayal and miss placed trust is told again as a part of history and is actually a part of John Woo's life (The 1967 riot in china, see Mr Woo). This time the friends are Ben, Frank and Paul. Ben is young man in love with Jane, Frank just wants to live care free but is constantly being beaten by his ...

Advantages: Excellent stunts Disadvantages: Cannot get used to Brosnan
this so I shall not spoil it.
There is also a nuclear bomb that is going to go off and Bond and the pretty nuclear doctor have to save the world (again).
M is also in danger as Mr Carlisle wants his revenge for putting a bullet into his head.
The DVD version lets you see how they make the stunts which I thought was excellent and an interesting thing I found out was that the parking attendant in TV's 'Clampers' actually played a small part!
Revenge! He gets splashed with water by Mr Bond's boat at the beginning while trying to clamp a car. Look out for that part!
So, as a great fan of Roger Moore I thought this film was good.
I think I shall watch future Bond films from now on. ...
Advantages: Shows the band at their best, superb live show and some good extras Disadvantages: Shame it was the end, Zack's not really been heard of since
he?s singing about and I feel that?s really what gives them the edge when they are performing live. Throughout the set Zack?s vocals sound fantastic and at times it?s hard to resist wanting to get up and jump around a bit. It would be fair to say this DVD isn?t going to be everyone?s favourite but if you liked RATM then I?d certainly recommend it as it will be a good reminder for many years just how good they were.
The highlight of the set has to be the collaboration between RATM and guest stars Cypress Hill for a joint version of ?How I Could Just Kill A Man?. The RATM version of the track is excellent but when you add the songs original performers, Hip Hop stars Cypress Hill, it sounds even better. Along with ?Guerrilla Radio? and ?BulletIn The Head?, they are certainly the stand out tracks on the DVD and sound even better live than ...
