Bullet in the Head is the story of three friends during the Vietnamese war though they are not actually in it.

In my opinion Bullet in the Head is the finest John Woo film ever. It involves his great directing skills form previous John Woo films such as the cut back scene between Ben shooting the Viet Cong captain in the head and Ben shooting Paul in the head which was used in Hand of death. The disregard for the church where a boy is shot in front of a Jesus and Mary statue used in A Better Tomorrow The Killer and later on Face/Off. And the friend shooting a friend to end his pain, which was used in The Killer. The ever lasting story of betrayal and miss placed trust is told again as a part of history and is actually a part of John Woo's life (The 1967 riot in china, see Mr Woo). This time the friends are Ben, Frank and Paul. Ben is young man in love with Jane, Frank just wants to live care free but is constantly being beaten by his mother and Paul is the son of a road sweeper who wants to make it rich and would do anything and 'kill anyone' who gets in his way

PS
ignore 'weak' for special effects there are not any
