Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Complete Season 7 [DVD] [1998]

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Complete Season 7 [DVD] [1998]

The seventh and final series ofBuffy the Vampire Slayerbegins with a mystery: someone is ... more

murdering teenage girls all over the world and
something is trying hard to drive Spike mad. Buffy
is considerably more cheerful in these episodes
than we have seen her during the previous year as
she trains Dawn and gets a job as student
counsellor at the newly rebuilt Sunnydale High.
Willow is recovering from the magical addiction
which almost led her to destroy the world, but all
is not yet well with her, or with Anya, who has
returned to being a Vengeance demon in "Same Time,
Same Place" and "Selfless", and both women are
haunted by their decisions.Haunting of a different
kind comes in the excellent "Conversations with
Dead People" (one of the show's most terrifying
episodes ever) where a mysterious song is making
Spike kill again in spite of his soul and his
chip. Giles turns up in "Bring on the Night" and
Buffy has to fight one of the deadliest vampires
of her career in "Showtime". In "Potential" Dawn
faces a fundamental reassessment of her purpose in
life.Buffywas always a show about female
empowerment, but it was also a show about how
quite ordinary people can decide to make a
difference alongside people who are special. And
it was also a show about people making up for past
errors and crimes. So, for example, we have the
excellent episodes "Storyteller", in which the
former geek/super villain Andrew sorts out his
redemption while making a video diary about life
with Buffy; and "Lies My Parents Told Me", in
which we find out why a particular folk song sends
Spike crazy. Redemption abounds as Faith returns
to Sunnydale and the friends she once betrayed,
and Willow finds herself turning into the man she
flayed. Above all, this was always Buffy's show:
Sarah Michelle Gellar does extraordinary work here
both as Buffy and as her ultimate shadow, the
First Evil, who takes her face to mock her. This
is a fine ending to one of television's most
remarkable shows. --Roz Kaveney

Buffy has Potential

Advantages: Great episodes, great plot arc
Disadvantages: The Potentials!

After seven years, Buffy the Vampire Slayer finally came to an end in 2003 with its seventh season. Well - on the television anyway - hardcore fans will know that season eight is currently being released in comic book form! But that's not what I'm reviewing here - that honour goes to the final televised season of Buffy. With such a long and successful series, you'd expect it to go out with a bang - and that's what it does, in a big way. Many of ...
...After her depression last season, Buffy seems a lot happier - at the start of the season anyway. Spike spends a lot of his time going a little bit crazy from his new soul, and for another reason... Anya must deal with the ramifications of returning to her vengeful ways and Willow has to try and get past the darkness she found in season six. Xander and Dawn are rather superfluous in season seven, but they're pretty much a constant in all episodes. ...

Quick review of Buffy The Vampire Slayer - Series 7 - Complete Buffy The Vampire Slayer (DVD)

Well, first of all, i own the whole collection, and it is fantastic. This season howerver, has to be the best one by far. The whole storyline from episode 1-22 is great. You get completely absorbed right into it and cant take your eyes off of it, and i dont think they could have ended the buffy saga any other way than to turn every potential into a slayer. Pure genius. Just a pity that the producers of the show arent making anymore. This season deserves all 5 stars. If there were anymore, i would give it to this collection. ...

Buffy - season 7

Advantages: The final, awesome, Buffy season
Disadvantages: It's the end of an era

'''Plot''' Buffy has had a rough ride for the last 6 years, battling for her life in every episode, losing Angel and her mother and having to drop out of college to look after Dawn. Oh yeah, and she died - twice. Season 7 is her chance to shine - and a fitting end to the franchise. Buffy and her friends are up against the ultimate evil - the First Evil, something which has existed since time began. The First is incorporeal, but can appear in the ...
...command, and they're like nothing Buffy has had to face before. Everyone has to pull together for the final battle, to save the world once and for all. '''DVD boxset information''' 6 discs, 22 episodes. '''Special features:''' Disc 1 - Commentary for 'Lessons'. DVD-ROM 'Willow Demon Guide' Disc 2 - Commentaries for 'Selfless' and 'Conversations with Dead People' Disc 3 - 12 features and a featurette 'Buffy - it's always been about the fans' ...
