of Buck Rogers (originally created in 1928) for a television pilot for NBC. The result got a theatrical release, only to appear a year later on television as a prelude to a series starring Gil Gerard as the astronaut who goes on a space mission, only to awaken 500 years later on a severely different Earth and be chosen to aid a special defence organisation due to his superior piloting skills. In the second season, Buck becomes a crew member on the Seacher, a spacecraft on a mission to find lost tribes of Earth on other planets. Buck's robot assistant is voiced by cartoon legend Mel Blanc.

Advantages: Nostalgia, oh lord watching this show brings back so many memories! Disadvantages: Avoid the region 2 set - go for the Region 1 set, its the complete series!
for those who don't know, this series dates back to the 70's when sci-fi involved women in skin tight lycra (Wilma Deering hubba hubba!), hi tech was lots of blinking flashing lights and futuristic sets meant lots of plastic furniture! Glen A Larson was at this time a god for sci fi nuts, coming off the far far far superior Battlestar Galactica, he tones everything down a little (too much?) for the kiddies inBuckRogers (although the latter half of Battlestar got also too kiddie like!).
But you all know the story of BuckRogers being frozen and then awoken in the 25thcentury, so I will avoid the recap!
If you are expecting loads of extras, included in the excellent Battlestar Galactica boxset - you will be disappointed with this set, I was!
No extras to speak of. Just the episodes and a little booklet. A real shame, as I still believe ...
Advantages: all the episodes! Disadvantages: nothing original extra :(
This is a double seriesset of DVDs to celebrate 25 years since the creation of the young ones on BBC.
The Young ones was a sitcom broadcast on BBC two in the 1980's, written by Rik Mayall and Ade Edmunson it is about 4 students who attend 'Scumbag College' North London. Although setin north london it was actually filmed, well most of it actually in Bristol. The four students are called Rik Prick, Neil, Mike, and Vyvyan. Each can be seen to portray teenagers of different decades. Neil as the 1960's Hippy who studies peace studies, Mike as the 1950's 'happy days - like' Fonze (aka lady killer), Vyvyan as the 1970's Punk rocker (ironically studying to be a Doctor!), and Rik the anarchist studying Socailism. Although through all of the series's not once do we actually see any of them spend any time at thier institution, or working, nor ...
