Wembley Arena - 27th April 2004 19:30
We arrive beneath the shadow of the towering construction site that is to be the new Wembley Stadium and shuttle past the heavy security enforcement officiers and in to the demolition site they call Wembley Arena.
This has for a long time been my least favourite venue for live music, with it's terrible seating alignments and rubbish 'aircraft hangar' accoustics. However, given the choice of witnessing the energetic Miss Spears in this venue or touting my ticket and witnessing severall Stella Artois instead - I choose to enter.
Given the price to see the old lady of pop Madonna at Earls Court is between £50-£150, I do not think that I have been overcharged to be here, as my tickets has only weighed in at £27.50 (plus £5 charges of course).
The tabloids on the morning of this performance are united in slating Miss Spears for miming her entire set on Monday and cited possible reasons as being the late addition of that date to the tour or poor ticket sales or Britneys late arrival in to the country. The most likely excuse though is that some of the dance routines in the set are so energetic and high octane that to actually sing at the same time would really show up the mediocrity of her voice.
So with this in mind I was not as enthusiastic upon taking my seat as I could have been - the seat was ok though, upstairs half-way along with the stage to my right, if you know the Arena.
We opened in a flash of light and pumping sound and a ringmaster type clown fellow talking some rubbish about welcoming us to the Onyx Hotel (name of the tour) which I didn't remember booking in to! Then drum roll and more fire and smoke and Britney scuttled on surrounded by dancers and mimed her way through Toxic and then quickly on to Unprotected.
The audience was very supportive, with lots of cheers and chanting, but this slowly ebbed as a series of costume changes, video clips and dance routines broke up the flow. This and a reluctance to perform the hits that were much awaited in preference to churning out some relatively unknown album tracks. There was however a rather bizarre rendition of Hit me baby one more time, which came across as part opera and part country and western.
There were a couple of songs that were quite clearly not mimed and these were distinctive by the poor quality of the singing involved - somewhat strange when every other song sounded pitch perfect.
This is a shame as most people do not just come for the 'show' but to hear their favourites perform well known songs in a live format. We though had to make do with warm-up artists Jada Pinkett-Smith (what the hell is that all about) and JC Chasez (a-hem) giving us mercifully short sets.
The stage show though was entertaining enough, with plenty of pyrotechnics and stuff going on and the dancing was ok if a little laboured at times (zombies anyone). We were treated to an elaborate array of dazzling costumes (yes, that includes the near see through one from the toxic video) and Britney on a swing high above the stage (!).
After 75 minutes Britney made her excuses and left the stage to rest her voice (he he) prior to the encore and I made my own excuses and slipped outside into the rain and the long haul home.
This was not the night that I had hoped for and has put me off going to a 'live' concert again for a while, but never mind, tomorrow is another day and another sell-out crowd will pay to keep see the princess of pop 'perform'.
My advice is to wait for the DVD or video to be released from this tour as this will look and sound better than being there.
Advantages: Amazing performance! Disadvantages: Should have been 'R' rated!!!!
...with around 5000 other frustrated Britney fans) were tearing their hair out on Five Ways Island. When I EVENTUALLY arrived (missed most of JC Chasez, but from what I saw, he wasn't that good anyway!) and settled down for the 'proper' show!
I was thrilled to see that the tickets I'd bought from ebay (first time I'd bought conert tix on ebay and a little nervous!!!) were around 15 rows from the front......what a view! I could almost see her from head ... ...beer kicking in??) Britney then performed her reworked versions of ‘Baby One More Time’ and ‘Oops…’ in a sort of Jazz style....ish....
They were different...and I didn't feel they had been reworked for the better (nor did most of the audience as it took 2 minutes for everyone to work out what they WERE!)
‘Crazy’ was performed more like it's normal self and following this, was a video link to her next song.....
‘Everytime’ which took the pace down ...

...today, 'singer' and large-breasted woman, Britney Spears announced to the world that she had 'No Talent'. It came as little shock to anyone who had watched her videos without the sound down; nonetheless there were gasps of surprise and sexual release as Ms. Spears (too young for you, you pervert) read her statement at a specially arranged press conference. The statement was as follows:
"Umm... hi everyone. Look at my breasts. In response to rank ... ...worldwide I just want to confirm to you all that I do, in fact, have No Talent. The doctors aren't entirely sure where I contracted it from, but I have my own ideas: my mother was kidnapped and gangbanged by the Osmonds nine months before I was born. Whether I actually am an Osmond or not, is not for me to say, but the kind of mental trauma that my poor dead mother must have gone through whilst pregnant, in my opinion, would be enough to infect me ...

I am a big Britney fan, and i'll try not to be too bias!
I think that This video is very well priced @ £12.99. You get around 1 hour and a half of Britney's good looks, talent and sweetness. This video is a must for any fan. On the video is all of the videos released from Oops!...I did it again, all full-length; which is a change from all those half videos you see. There is a good combination of life performance, Brit behind the scenes, and fans ...

been on TV countless times before, but not everyone lives in America (I don't), so most of the stuff on here was new to me. The DVD cover is the same as the multi-platinum No.1 album "In The Zone," and this instantly makes the two sort of companions to each other. The first feature on the DVD is probably the best of the lot. It's the ABC Television Special - "BritneySpears: In The Zone" which was broadcast across America on the eve of the release of Britney's fourth album. In an intimate setting Britney performs to some of her biggest fans. She sings "Toxic," "Breathe On Me," "Boys/I'm A Slave 4 U," "(I Got That) Boom Boom," "Everytime," "...Baby One More Time" and "Me Against The Music." Seven great songs there, seven great performances. Woven in-between these performances are some brilliant clips of Britney during the recording process ...
Contains live footage from Hawaii, music videos for 'Oops!...I Did It Again', 'Lucky' and 'Stronger', Saturday Night Live skits and other television appearances.

DVD Description
She's definitely not a girl, and claims she's not yet a woman either, but pop singer Britney Spears is undoubtedly an international superstar. LIVE FROM LAS VEGAS was filmed as an HBO special just after the release of Britney's third album, simply titled BRITNEY. Filmed at the luxurious and flashy MGM Grand Hotel, Britney stars in a concert that hints at the great showgirl shows that Vegas is famous for. An showy production with fireworks, water, moving sets, and countless costume changes, LIVE FROM LAS VEGAS also features music.
