Advantages: will get you from A to B - eventually Disadvantages: need I comment?
By way of opening, yes, I am aware that BR does not exist anymore. This however, is an opinion about the whole rail network and it seemed fitting to put it here, after all, as you will see, BR had its merits.
Many of us rely on rail travel every day and there can be few people who have never been on a train. Whether we use the railways for daily commuting or the occasional trip away we should be able to rely on the fact that there will be trains, that they will turn up on time and get to their destination with the minimum of delay.
That’s what should happen. In reality we are faced with a crippled rail network, poor rolling stock and high prices. Rail travel is no longer guaranteed to get you to your destination on time or at all. The infrastructure has got so bad that from every corner there is a cry. The public blame ...

Advantages: You get where you want to go eventually Disadvantages: You pay a ridiculous amount of money to do so
These people have got to be taking the piss. Surely i can't be the only person who has calculated that on average it costs just over £10 an hour to travel by BritishRail. This is just ridiculous, i don't really care that much about cleanliness or timetable accuracy but i do object to paying over £60 for a 6 hour train journey. Recently i saw an advert in a paper offering flights to austrailia for £99, it costs about £130 to travel by train from the most southerly to the most northerly train station in Britain. If someone could explain to me why this is and where this mass of money is going i would be glad to listen. If the goverment want to get people out of their cars and onto buses and trains maybe they could get BritishRail to stop charging me £3.50 for a 15 minute train journey every day.
The only piece of advice i can give is ...

Advantages: SAFETY Disadvantages: LACK OF COMMUNICATION
Whilst I have a great sympathy with the British Public with reference to the delays currently being experienced on the railway network,I must point out that SAFETY IS THE MORE IMPORTANT ISSUE!!!!!!!!!
The people who experienced the dreadful tragedy at Hatfield recently would surely agree that there has at least, been some good to come from this disaster inasmuch as that the national railway system has been thoroughly examined and a rather disturbing amount of problems have been found on the tracks nationally!!!!!!!
As a traveller on the railway system I find the delays incredibly frustrating,BUT,I would rather be delayed to arrive at my destination safely than experience the horror of another Hatfield crash!!
The management of BritishRail would much improve the current situation with a drastic review of their communication procedures ...
