Bring It On Again sounds like it should be a sequel to the hugely popular Bring It On. It’s about student cheerleaders like the first one was, and takes place a year or two in the future. It has the traditional teen movie sub-plot of romantic obstacles. It has the majority of scenes featuring scantily clad pretty people, and some where they wear even less. It’s even from the same producers. But, using the definition above, this isn’t a sequel because the actors, and the characters, are completely new.
Bring It On Again takes place at a random non-descript minor university in California – California State College (the original was set in the San Diego region). As the film start, Whittier (Whittier?!?), a first year, is arriving on campus. She’s cheered in high school and was supposedly pretty good at it, so is looking forward to being on the college team with her old friend Monica. But, after a week or two, things start to go down hill as the two start to get on the wrong side of Tina, cheer captain supreme. After one too many fallings-out, they quit the team and try to form one of their own which will topple the current varsity squad, but seeing as all the half-decent cheerleaders are on said team, they have their work cut out for them.
Is it any good? That depends what you’re looking for in this kind of film. The original was good partly because it was the first of its kind and partly because it had some funky lyrics “We cheer and we lead. We act like we’re on speed”. Unfortunately this 2nd attempt can claim neither of these. The stunts seem less skilled and the lyrics much less interesting and both lack originality. The cheers are also more chant-and-clap ones rather than sing-a-bit-to-nice-music ones which makes them less easy on the ear and a little ‘rough’ at times. At the same time the characters are not as engaging – Whittier is very young and silly (younger than the high school kids in the way she acts despite being a couple of years older). She’s also a bit funny looking for the lead. Tina is not really evil enough to be funny at it, and just comes across as irritating and two dimensional. Monica, played by Faune Chambers, is the only mildly interesting one and wasted as side-kick to Whit.
The film was shot in 28 days which is alarmingly short, and this is pretty evident in the final version. It’s not a bad film by any means, but it doesn’t have the polish of a Hollywood blockbuster. Scenes don’t always flow and at times the story doesn’t make all that much sense. At the same time, the fact that it’s about bitchy, backstabbing cheerleaders means I’ve watched it more than once. It’s a not very funny comedy (the script is not full of puns or repartee, and there’s very little physical comedy) but is amusing if nothing else. The story ends suddenly at a point where really it could have begun with little having been accomplished in the preceding 90 minutes. It’s no wonder in mind that they couldn’t get any more well-known faces to star in it.
Some typical quotes from the film:
Tina: I have to say that just by trying out today, you're already a winner. Cheerleader: Thank you. Tina: Unless of course you get cut, in which case, that makes you technically a loser.
-----------------------------
Tina Sweetie, no double earrings. You're a state cheerleader, not a state HOOKER!
-----------------------------
Penelope: The Nutcracker is a patriotical ballet. The only good thing in the Nutcracker is the rats and they die!
-----------------------------
Derek: Do you wanna do something illegal? Whittier: Uhh... Okay? Derek: Really? What kind of girl are you?
------------------------------
DVD Extras include a pretty mundane behind-the-scenes documentary, scenes from the original film to ‘cheer along to’, deleted scenes and a few other bits. Nothing super interesting but worth a glance nonetheless.
I watched it because I loved the first one, and also have a soft spot for Sugar and Spice. This is even worse than the usual ‘sequels’ you get (not counting Bridget Jones and Miss Congeniality 2 which I’m holding out hope for). It’s a poor excuse for a film and would probably never have been made were it not for the original Bring It On bandwagon that it seems to have jumped aboard. But despite all this negativity I’m going to have to give it an average mark because if you ignore the annoying characters and the could-have-been-scripted-by-a-10-year-old-plot, you’re left with a film all about cheerleading which there’s just not enough of in movies these days.
Buy it on eBay or at MusicZone for about £6 – at that price worth buying rather than renting just so you can resell it later.
You didn’t miss it at the cinema: it was a straight to video movie and when you see it you’ll certainly realise why.
Advantages: None for me im afraid to say ! Disadvantages: Not as Funny, Exicting as the 1st Bring it on - This film Bores Me
...be a follow on from Bring It On coming out - As Bring It On is one of my all time favourites! I was so excited, so when i recieved it for a gift that year , i didnt hesitate to watch it straight away. So i did..and i was hugely disappointed ! Was this meant to be a follow on.. ? because it didnt seem like it!
Firstly - there was no Actors or Actress's that stared in the previous film, that were even mentioned in Bring It On Again..so how could it ... ...a level of serious-ness in bring it on , that i think you need in a good film - because it was just about cheer leader, it was showing you what its like for them behind "closed doors." but i think because there was that bit of serious-ness involved, it made the film more funny,.
But with Bring it on again - i think it takes the p*ss out of cheerleaders, it trys to be funny, but its not. and i think it is a very stupid and pathetic film, its pointelss ...

Advantages: good dancing Disadvantages: not as good as the first one
this is about a group of cheer leaders all battling it out to win a competition in the cheer leading schools in america. This film was watchable and had good dancing, but i dont think any film can be as good as the first expesially when they are completely different characters, a film like this is ok to watch if you like dance films. It was also funny in some places. but i would much rather watch the first one. this is the type of film that i would ... ...waste my money buyin a film that is of pretty poor quality and poor acting. And one that you WILL only watch once. If the actors from the first one would have been in this film it would have certainly have made it more watchable. and alot more enjoyable. they was good dance scenes in it but as far as this film goes that was the only good thing about it i certainly would not watch it again.
it runs for approximatly 90 minutes. ...

Advantages: Bring It On All or Nothing Disadvantages: Bring It On Again
This DVD set draws together the 2nd (Bringit on again) and 3rd (Bringit on all or nothing) movies of the Bringit on quartet. As with the other movies they all have the theme of rival Cheerleaders and the ups and downs that unfold. As always both movies start with a dream and finish with a song but what goes on between is very different?
Bringit on again is the story of Wittier who after a torrid time with the college cheerleading team decides to do it her own way with her own squad as always there is loves and mishaps along the way. I found this to be the weakest of the four movies it doesn't quite manages to grasp the audience's attention as well as the first and third.
There are no extras or deleted scenes just a subtitle option.
Bringit On All or nothing is most probably the best of the four movies. With a great cast ...
Advantages: The film is brilliant, you will want to watch it again and again Disadvantages: It's somewhat of an epic!
When I went to see this film at the cinemas, I was pretty sure it couldn't match the Matrix, one of my all time favourite films, although I expected it to be good. How much was I wrong though! The storyline, Special effects, and the whole film are just amazing. Ridley Scott certainly seems to have outdone himself on this one. The film is about a Roman army centurian officer betrayed, and condemed to death. He escapes however, and becomes a Gladiator. He soon gets a name for himself, and eventually winds up killing the emporer who sent him to death. It's a brilliant film, and you will want to watch itagain and again. The quality of DVDbrings the film to life on your tv, it's definately one to add to your collection. Well worth buying! ...

Advantages: it's outstanding and brilliant, great movie one of a kind love it. Disadvantages: nothing bad to say honestly
i saw this movie in cinema, but ooooh i must say i love will smith, when i saw the adverts and heard it was a one man movie i never for one second thought that it work work, but the truth is it was brilliant, and what was more brilliant is the fact that the movie was not predictable at all, with more movies you can always predict what will happen next but this was just awesome, great and fun to watch, i must say i was a bit teary eye at the ending, the ending was great it just bring tears to my eye watching it, the whole movie was done very well so much so i had to get it on dvdagain, everything about this movie was great i particular like the part inn the movie when he was imitating sherk that was prefect, when he was talking to the manikins i wasn't even sure if they were real or fake cause it was just brilliant.
if you haven ...
Following in the choreographed steps of 2000's 'Bring It On' this feel-good college movie sequel follows California State University Freshman, Whittier (Anne Judson-Yager), in her roller-coaster first year away from home. College turns out to be pretty far removed from high school and despite making some really good friendships Whittier decides to join the cheerleading squad. Almost overnight she's a campus sensation but as her popularity grows with the in-crowd she realises she has been neglecting the people that really care about her. When Tina, the snobby, fascistic head of the cheerleading squad realises where Whittier's allegiances lie Whittier is fired from the team, crushing her hopes of performing at the National Cheerleading Championship. But with a rabble of campus misfits willing to help her out in any way they can, Whittier discovers that her hopes of representing her college at the Championship may not be lost after all.
