In the screen adaptation of BRIDGET JONES'S DIARY, Helen Fielding's international best-selling phenomenon, documentary filmmaker (and real-life inspiration for the character...
more...Shazzer) Sharon Maguire has managed a rare feat - a film as captivating as the novel. Bridget Jones (Renee Zellweger) is a pretty and neurotic thirtysomething singleton (in her vernacular) who vows to take control of her life after being humiliated by handsome, standoffish barrister, Mark Darcy (Colin Firth) at her parents' New Year's party. Determined to lose weight and cut back on vices like wine, cigarettes, and workaholic-alcoholic-misogynistic men, Bridget begins a diary to chart her progress. Unfortunately, the P.R. executive hits a snag when her boss, gorgeous cad Daniel (Hugh Grant) instigates a sexy e-mail flirtation. Despite her tendency to bungle book launch parties, and any situation involving the ever-present, ever-disapproving Mark Darcy, Bridget's winning combination of charm, vulnerability, and wit intrigues not only the seductively dangerous Daniel, but also the arrogant barrister. Featuring a note-perfect performance by Zellweger, a devilishly against-type one by Grant, and the inspired casting of Firth (the object of Bridget's lusty fantasies in the book); DIARY is a clever, delightful romantic comedy guaranteed to please old fans and win new ones.

When I went to see this film I was expecting it to be funny, because so many people had told me that it was, but when I went to watch it I thought that it was really really really funny!

The film is about a single woman called -you guessed it- Bridget Jones. She decides, after realising how sad her life is to change it for the better. She proposes to go on a diet, stop smoking, stop drinking and find a man (not too much to ask then!), she starts a diary to record her progress in- which is why the film is called Bridget Jones's Diary.

I don't want to spoil the film for any people who haven't watched it yet by saying what happens, so I won't- I’ll just say all the good things about the film AND TELL EVERYONE TO GO AND WATCH IT!!!

I was laughing all the way through this film (like pretty much everyone else in the cinema) and I never got bored. The storyline isn't predictable and is funny throughout. Lots of bad (but funny) things happen to Bridget that can happen to normal people- (this makes a nice change from most films that normally have completely unrealistic things happening). I found one of the funniest parts of the film the part where Bridget tries to make diner for her friends- every course goes badly wrong and the celery soup ends up blue!

The film has a great sound track-, which includes songs from Robbie Williams, Gabrielle and Geri Halliwell (I recommend buying the sound track to people who are into that kind of music- it's got 19 tracks, nearly all of which are really really good).

The Main stars in the film are Renee Zellweger (Bridget), Hugh Grant, and Colin Firth. Renee Zellweger does a very good English accent throughout the film- considering that she's from Texas! Hugh Grant acts brilliantly (as he always does) but his character like isn't the Mr Nice Guys that he usually plays.

As well as being very funny, having a great sound track, storyline and cast, this film has another great quality- it's easy to relate to. Some examples of this are: Bridget's mother has an affair, her boyfriend cheats on her and she is trying to lose weight. It's probably easier for other girlies to relate to these problems, which is why I think girls would enjoy the film more than lads.

I think everyone should watch this film, and well, if you don't like it you must be mad!!!
