In the screen adaptation of BRIDGET JONES'S DIARY, Helen Fielding's international best-selling phenomenon, documentary filmmaker (and real-life inspiration for the character...
more...Shazzer) Sharon Maguire has managed a rare feat - a film as captivating as the novel. Bridget Jones (Renee Zellweger) is a pretty and neurotic thirtysomething singleton (in her vernacular) who vows to take control of her life after being humiliated by handsome, standoffish barrister, Mark Darcy (Colin Firth) at her parents' New Year's party. Determined to lose weight and cut back on vices like wine, cigarettes, and workaholic-alcoholic-misogynistic men, Bridget begins a diary to chart her progress. Unfortunately, the P.R. executive hits a snag when her boss, gorgeous cad Daniel (Hugh Grant) instigates a sexy e-mail flirtation. Despite her tendency to bungle book launch parties, and any situation involving the ever-present, ever-disapproving Mark Darcy, Bridget's winning combination of charm, vulnerability, and wit intrigues not only the seductively dangerous Daniel, but also the arrogant barrister. Featuring a note-perfect performance by Zellweger, a devilishly against-type one by Grant, and the inspired casting of Firth (the object of Bridget's lusty fantasies in the book); DIARY is a clever, delightful romantic comedy guaranteed to please old fans and win new ones.

I was dying to go and see what The Bridget Jones's Diary was like because I had spoken to so many different people about the film and have heard different opinions about the film so on Tuesday night, I found the money and dragged my Best friend down to the cinema and we watched The Bridget Jones's Diary.

The film started with her at home, sitting around in her red pyjama's with a glass of Chardonay in her hand, singing her heart out to Celine Dion's All By Myself. I have found myself like that at times, but without the drink.

Bridget is a 37 year old un-married women with no boyfriend. Firstly we get to meet Mark. A friend from the past and they used to play together (bridget ran round his garden naked when she was younger), she doesn't like him at first with his reindeer jumper because she meets him at a christmas dinner at her parents house.

For her new years resolution, she decides to keep a diary so she can write down ALL her thoughts and wishes etc.

Bridget works for Daniel (Hugh Grant) in a publishers in London. Bridget finds Daniel attractive and he likes her, they start to get to know each other better by e-mailing across the office because one day Bridget comes in without her skirt.

They start going out for a while and she learns that Mark and Daniel dis-like each other a lot! Mark gets a girlfriend called Natasha and he likes to rub it in I think.

Daniel and Bridget go away for the weekend to some swanky hotle but he has to rush off to a meeting on the last day and leaves Bridget there. So when Bridget arrives home se pops round to see her boyfriend and finds a naked women in his bathroom. He makes up some pathetic excuse and she leaves him.

Mark and her bump into each other again and he finds out that Bridget and Daniel spilt up. Mark is interested in Bridget and in the end, Mark and Daniel fight over the past to the amazing It's Raining Men by Geri.

But I'm not going to tell you who gets Bridget in the end because you have to go and find out for yourself!

The film isn't only for girls, it's for everyone and I have to say that it is the best film I have seen in ages. I'm going to go again!
