best-selling phenomenon, documentary filmmaker (and real-life inspiration for the character Shazzer) Sharon Maguire has managed a rare feat--a film as captivating as the novel. Bridget Jones (Renee Zellweger) is a pretty and neurotic thirtysomething singleton (in her vernacular) who vows to take control of her life after being humiliated by handsome, standoffish barrister, Mark Darcy (Colin Firth) at her parents' New Year's party. Determined to lose weight and cut back on vices like wine, cigarettes, and workaholic-alcoholic-misogynistic men, Bridget begins a diary to chart her progress. Unfortunately, the P.R. executive hits a snag when her boss, gorgeous cad Daniel (Hugh Grant) instigates a sexy e-mail flirtation. Despite her tendency to bungle book launch parties, and any situation involving the ever-present, ever-disapproving Mark Darcy, Bridget's winning combination of charm, vulnerability, and wit intrigues not only the seductively dangerous Daniel, but also the arrogant barrister. Featuring a note-perfect performance by Zellweger, a devilishly against-type one by Grant, and the inspired casting of Firth (the object of Bridget's lusty fantasies in the book); DIARY is a clever, delightful romantic comedy guaranteed to please old fans and win new ones.n

affair--subtitled "More Music From the Film and Other V.G. Songs", it could be seen to be somewhat stretching the loyalty of wannabe Bridgets everywhere. But then again, when it includes such a great line-up of tracks, it would be churlish to complain. The two glaring omissions fromVolume 1put in a very welcome appearance, namely Van Morrison's "Someone Like You" and Nilsson's "Without You" (albeit without Bridget's somewhat over-exuberant backing vocals), along with the original version of Robbie's "Me and Mrs Jones" by the Dramatics and an acoustic version of the Gabrielle hit "Out of Reach". Nestling comfortably alongside them are a wealth of tracks for the modern singleton--empowerment in the form of En Vogue's "My Lovin' (You're Never Gonna Get It)", feel-good sentiments from McAlmont and Butler's "Yes" and a good bit of wallowing courtesy of Yvonne Fair's "It Should Have Been Me". The only things that are missing are the free bottle of Chardonnay and the big pants. --Helen Marquis
onto the cover of this 19-track soundtrack), bringing hope to lonely souls all over the country and a word of warning to smug marrieds everywhere. For what should be called "the best chick flick in the world...ever!" the soundtrack compilers have come up with a dream tracklist--from classics such as Aretha Franklin's "Respect", Jamie O'Neal's tearjerker "All By Myself" and Andy Williams' "Can't Take My Eyes Off You", to more contemporary gems from the likes of Gabrielle ("Out of Reach"), The Pretenders ("Don't Get Me Wrong") and Artful Dodger ("Woman Trouble"). Plus you get the added bonus of two unreleased Robbie Williams tracks--the big-band stylings of "Have You Met Miss Jones?" and the tender "Not of this Earth"--and, of course, the much-hyped karaoke-by-numbers of "It's Raining Men" by Geri Halliwell and her pants. There are a couple of fillers from Rosey and Alisha's Attic, but they don't distract too much from the generally choice tracks on offer. As Bridget would say, "v. good". --Helen Marquis
Advantages: 1st films good. Disadvantages: 2nd film's not so good.
...works. Renee has chemistry with both Mark Darcy & her boss Daniel Cleaver, and with a very good cast it's a perfect film to watch with the girls.
I didn't enjoy the first book, mainly because I saw the film first, I think that always recks your opinion of the book. Sharon McGuire has made this film fantastic, I can watch it over and over without getting bored.
BridgetJonesDiary: The Edge Of Reason
Unlike the first film I was really disapointed with the second film. I has read the book and loved it, it's so much better than the first book but they took too much out of the film.
I also think Renee Zellwegers accent gets worse in this second film, it actually sounds fake, plus there is too many soppy moments in the film that are not in the book, the scene at the start is terrible.
There's not much I can say about this film, it's fun...

Advantages: the funniest film oout of the two yet Disadvantages: a little similar to the last one
...She’s back and she’s better than ever. Yes its BridgetJonesdiary. For those people who haven’t seen this follow up film, I recommend that you all go and see it because it is the best film of the year. If you’ve had a stressful day, order in a takeaway, chill, sit back, relax and watch this film and laugh yourself silly! Starring the same cast members plus other new extras that you’ve seen on TV or in Hollywood.
The plot
Well, in the last film, Bridget (Renee Zellweger) got it together with mark Darcy (Colin firth), the high respectable lawyer, after a rough time with Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant) her cheating, sex mad ex boyfriend and old boss. So this basically carries on from the last film, but in this one, there are more laugh out loud embarrassing moments, and more problems and hurdles she has to overcome.
It starts off with her...

...This boxset is perfect for any Hugh Grant fan with the three films BridgetJones, BridgetJonesEdge of Reason and About a boy you will not be at all disappointed!
BridgetJones 1
BridgetJones is an hilarious film taken from a novel by Helen Fielding. Renne Zelleweger plays the lead role of BridgetJones who is a single women who falls for the gorgeous and witty Daniel Cleaver (played by Hugh Grant) but he isnt all what he seems and has various affairs. Bridget turns up to a posh party dressed as a very tarty rabbit, lets her mum dress her at xmas parties and is always on a diet. She eventually falls for the very successful Mark Darcy (played by Colin Firth). Any women watching this film will cringe as they relate to the hilarious happenings in Bridgets life.

DVD Description
In BRIDGET JONES'S DIARY--based on Helen Fielding's novel--Bridget Jones is a pretty and neurotic thirty-something 'singleton' (in her vernacular) who vows to take control of her life after being humiliated by handsome, stand-offish barrister Mark Darcy at her parents' New Year's party. Determined to lose weight, and cut back on vices like wine, cigarettes, and workaholic-alcoholic-misogynistic men, Bridget begins a diary to chart her progress. Unfortunately, the P.R. executive hits a snag when her boss, gorgeous cad Daniel, instigates a sexy e-mail flirtation. Despite her tendency to bungle book launch parties, and any situation involving the ever present, ever-disapproving Mark Darcy, Bridget's winning combination of charm, vulnerability, and wit intrigues not only the seductively dangerous Daniel, but also the arrogant barrister.
Advantages: Funny, Great Actors Disadvantages: 'Chick flick' staus
...there was huge controversy in her being given the part. This is due to Renee originally being from Texas, and therefore needed to have her voice trained and learn some British Culture. Colin Firth was always going to be Mark Darcy, due to his part in Pride and Prejudice and we can all imagine Hugh Grant, as the boss who would sleep around!
I also highly recommend the special features on the DVD which include some deleted scenes, which are well worth watching.
IF you have not yet seen BridgetJones then I suggest you do so as soon as you can, owing to the sequel – BridgetJones: The edge of Reason being released in Cinemas on November 12th. I’m sure it will provide more laughs and more embarrassment for poor old Bridget.
For BridgetJones – Just as she is…
P.S - Im sorry I have not written for a long time, Im going to start writing again...

...After waiting a long time for this film to come out I was definately not disappointed, the wait was well worth it!
I did wonder whether this film could be as good as the first BridgetJonesDiary and it met my expectations.
Bridget still plays a not so great journalist who is now dating the lovely Colin Farrell, which seems to be going well until the character Hugh Grant plays turns up.
The story shows the ever eventful life of BridgetJones from the embarrassing antics she gets up to, a working trip to Thailand and then being arrested, and again the ever amusing fight in the street between BridgetJones' love rivals!! Renee Zelwegger's performance is great.............bring on the BridgetJones 3!
Not only is the film great but the soundtrack is a must buy as well....

Advantages: Good Fun! Disadvantages: Very similar to first film!
...BridgetJonesEdge of Reason 'Same Bridget, Brand New Diary' 2005, Rating 15, Running Time 1hr 43 mins approx.
BridgetJones The Edge of Reason is an entertaining film but in my mind too similar to the first film BridgetJones. BridgetJones was unique and funny, it was fresh and new, The Edge of Reason is a copycat of this, it uses the same gags as the first film, but as we all know it is never as funny the second time around.
Although entertaining in parts I wish it were a little more original.
The Story:
In BridgetJones we watched Bridget (Rene Zellweger) go from single to couple, now that she has found her man The Edge of Reason shows her struggle to keep hold of him. Bridget is now coupled with the gorgeous Mark Darcey (Colin Firth) a Human Rights Lawyer and she is very happy. This of course doesn't stop Bridget making...
