DVD Description
Blake Edwards's adaptation of Truman Capote's classic novella is ideally cast with Audrey Hepburn in the role of Holly Golightly. The free-spirited gamine darts about New York, feted by wealthy men drawn to her megawatt charm and elegance, hoping that the party will never end. After 'shopping' in front of Tiffany's window, she meets aspiring writer Paul Varjak (George Peppard), and they begin a platonic friendship. 'Sponsored' by an older woman (Patricia Neal) whose interest in the young man is more than literary, he can identify with her experience better than most, taking it upon himself to protect her from the worst aspects of city life. But she seems to need little protection from such friends as incarcerated mob boss Sally Tomato (Alan Reed), who pays her to carry messages to Sing Sing. With her infectious joi de vivre, she helps Paul break through a paralysing case of writer's block. But when the genial Doc Golightly (Buddy Ebsen) appears in New York in search of Holly, the sources of her gossamer lifestyle suddenly become clearer. Edwards's lighter-than-air romantic comedy, set in a fantasy New York, rides on the irresistible charm of Hepburn at her peak, as well as a memorable score by Henry Mancini. Although George Axelrod's screenplay is as different from the original story as George Peppard is from the young Capote, the film succeeds on its own terms.
Advantages: Great feel-good factor. Totally timeless Disadvantages: None
...There must be few of you out there that haven’t heard of “Breakfast at Tiffanys”. But how many of you have actually watched it? If you haven’t, then I urge you to. It’s a magical, delightful and timeless film that will be enjoyed over and over again. The film was made in 1961 and was based on a book by Truman Capote. I’m afraid that I’ve not read the book so I can’t comment on how faithful the film adheres to the original storyline. All I know is that for years and years after first seeing this film - I wanted to be Audrey Hepburn. And who could blame me - in this film she is georgeous.
Essentially the plot is simple – Audrey Hepburn plays Holly Golightly, a high-priced escort with dreams of marrying an older, rich man. She isn't wealthy but she likes to pretend to be. She parties...

...I know that this has all been said before, but Breakfast at Tiffanies is just so BEAUTIFUL. The setting, the script, the actors, EVERYTHING about this movie is just perfect, now I?m not a great one for Romantic Comedies, but this film is just a classic The premise of the story is that a struggling writer meets up with a ambitious socialite, there is instantly some spark, but any chance of romance seems to be squashed when each party seem to be involved with diffrn't people... I think that Audrey Hepburn really does illuminate the screen as Holly Golightly the ever ambitious socialite, her portrayal of a otherwise unlikable charecter is quite remarkable as she takes her role in so many directions in such a short amount of time. The story is predictable yes, but it is done in such an un clished way that you can forgive it's unoriginality...

Advantages: Classic, feel-good movie with great music Disadvantages: None
...Breakfast at Tiffany's is one of the all time classic movies, the stunning Audrey Hepburn turns in an amazing performance as Holly Golightly.
Often funny and sometimes sad, Breakfast at Tiffanys will cartainly not leave you untouched. OK the cat scene might be sad but it turns out fine in the end (allbeit a tad drenched!). And Mickey Rooney may be dodgy as Holly's irate neighbour but it all adds to the charm and character of such a great movie.
And Mancini's soundtrack is brilliant. Shut your eyes to Moon River or cha cha along to Something For Cat!
Sheer brilliance. Glamour. Humour. Emotion. Romance. You name it, Breakfast at Tiffanys has got it.
Oh yeah and Tiffany diamonds are nice to watch too!!...
