just about every film steve martin makes these days is hailed as the greatest thing he's done in ages, the reason being for this, is everything he has starred in for ages has been utterly rubbish, and he has struggled to find anything like the comedy form he had in the man with two brains or the superb the jerk. Murphy on the other hand has had a rollercoaster movie career, with seems to suffer more highs than lows. So what about bowfinger? well murphy and martin are both fairly amicable in their roles, the problem is though, that the film is just not funny. there are a few moments such as where murphy has to make it across busy lines of traffic, the look on murphys scared face is priceless but thats about it. I used to be a big steve martin film, but now i just wish he could make a movie half as good as his old ones. Poor in the extreme, lacking originality and ideas, a great waste of two very talented men.
