Bobby Bowfinger (Martin) is a movie director fast approaching fifty and never having made it in Hollywood. Together with with a group of wannabe's (including a wannabe starlet played by Heather Graham who is prepared to sleep her way to the top.) and Mexican immigrants, he sets out to make a movie with Hollywoods biggest action star, Kit Ramsey (Murphy).
There's only one catch, Kit doesn't know he's in it. He becomes increasingly paranoid, convinced that he is being pursued by real aliens. Add to this Kit's stand in, who also happens to be his brother, Jiff (again, played by Murphy). This adds to the general hilarity and as the film progresses Bowfinger is prepared to sink to any depths to get his movie in the can.
This movie is fantastic, with a great script and wonderful comic moments. The supporting cast is excellent with Heather Graham and Terence Stamp standing out in particular. But this film really belongs to the two leads. Steve Martin makes a dazzling return to form after a period of relative obscurity and Eddie Murphy will have you doubled up with laughter as Kit's paranoia and Jiff's goofiness go into overdrive. In my opinion, they are the funniest two men in America. And as a special bonus, Eddie Murphy will dazzle you with his amazing martial arts skills in the fast and furious action packed finale!
