Ben Affleck and Gwyneth Paltrow, but under the surface beats the poisoned heart of an independent film just going through the motions. Affleck plays Buddy Amaral, a successful ad exec with an empty life. In a Chicago airport, he meets Greg Janello (Tony Goldwyn), a failed playwright going home to his family and a corrupt job as a TV writer. Buddy, angling for a one-night stand with a fellow passenger, gives Greg his ticket, but feels bad when he discovers the plane crashed and the guy died. He feels so bad, in fact, that when he gets out of rehab a year or so later, he decides to give the guy's widow, real estate agent Abby (Paltrow), commission on the sale of a building for his business, a sale she's not qualified to make. They start dating. She quickly forgets her initial impression of him as a creepy stalker. Affleck is good at playing privileged and shallow; Paltrow does what she can with the prepackaged grief of a widow; Joe Morton has very little to do as Buddy's business partner (but he does it well); and Johnny Galecki shines in a very small part as Buddy's assistant. These are good performances in a rather creepy film by the guy who madeThe Opposite of Sex. --Andy Spletzer, Amazon.comOn the DVD: as with most two-disc sets the additional material is contained on the second disc and offers the usual assortment of outtakes, "Making of" documentaries and deleted scenes. The highlight is the outtake reel but the Behind the Scenes featurette with Paltrow and Affleck also has its moments with the pair interviewing crew. The 45 minutes of deleted scenes contain two alternative endings. The commentary with director Don Roos and producer Cohen is informative with discussions on narrative structure, context and shooting techniques. All in all this is a packed second disc with enough to keep Affleck or Paltrow fans happy for at least the night. The visual quality of this 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen DVD is crisp and clean throughout. Because the film is heavy on dialogue, the Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack doesn't really get an opportunity to show off, but the more emotional scenes are all perfectly audible and easy to understand. --Kristen Bowditch

coming-of-age comedy from Malcolm D. Lee unfolds on the South Side of 1970's Chicago. Xavier (Bow Wow) and his wisecracking crew of friends rule the local roller skating rink but when it closes their summer looks to be an empty one. Reluctantly they head over to Sweetwater the glitzy rink across town where the rich kids skate and where the cocky Sweetness (Wesley Jonathan) presides over all as the unchallenged king of the floor. The boys are ridiculed upon their arrival and soon vow revenge at the upcoming competition for which they begin to hone their skills. Meanwhile X deals with his troubles at home as his mother has recently died and his dad Curtis (Chi McBride) struggles to make ends meet. The two attempt to understand each others' grief and help one another to move beyond it. X also makes the acquaintance of new kid Tori (Jurnee Smollett) a gawky girl with braces and a sharp tongue who tags along with the boys as an ugly duckling later to emerge a swan. Tori's rather attractive mum (Kellita Smith) attracts a great deal of attention on the block notably from two quick-talking garbage men (Mike Epps and Charles Q. Murphy in a hilarious bit part) and X tries to navigate his budding relationship with the seemingly-unattainable Naomi (Meagan Good).

I had read lots of bad or lukewarm reviews of this film when I went to see it so was not expecting anything great. However its an o.k film. It's about a guy (Ben Affleck) who swaps airplane seats with a married man who wants to get home to be with his family. The plane crashes and Buddy (Affleck) has to deal with the guilt of survivng. He seeks out the victim's wife (Gwyneth Paltrow) and they start a relationship, with her having no idea of who he is. It's quite a good plot and it's well acted although I found it hard to imagine Paltrow as a mother of an 8 year old boy however dowdy they attempted to make her. It is probably more watchable because of the quality of the two lead roles and if they were less well known i don't think I would have enjoyed it as much because it isn't a great film. But it's quite light and sweet and it has a feelgood factor and a happy ending. i went to see it with a few of my friends (all girls) and i think it is definitely more of a girl's film.
Advantages: Lovely sweet story Disadvantages: Sometimes slow
I wasn't expecting this film to be any good, although I am a big fan of romantic comedies. I didn't see that Ben Afleck and Gwyneth Paltrow to work well together because of their on-off relationship - I was wrong! Afleck plays commitment phobic Buddy, who gives away his plane ticket to a stranger. Sadly, the plane crashes and Buddy blames himself, guilt ridden he searches for the strangers widow Abby (Gwyneth.) Buddy falls for Abby, but how can he ... ...death of her husband? This film is original, sweet and sentimental. The only flaw as far as I'm concerned is it takes a while to get into it. I love it and will watch it again and again. But for people who don't like romantic comedies, I would advise them to stear clear. ...

Advantages: heartwarming, nice music Disadvantages: ordinary and predictable
The story goes like this: Ben Affleck is Buddy, who meets Greg (Tony Goldwyn) at the airport when their flights are delayed. After meeting a woman in the bar, Buddy gives Greg his plane ticket so he can get home to his wife and kids. The plane crashes and Buddy feels responsible for Greg's death. He looks up Greg's widow Abby (Gwyneth Paltrow) to make sure she's okay, and ends up falling in love with her. But of course he doesn't let on who he is, ... ...inevitably finds out.
The film is mostly about the Ben Affleck character's maturing and learning to be responsible. Both the lead characters lie through their teeth for most of the film so by the time you get to the end, the fact that Buddy lied about who he was doesn't matter that much anymore and it's difficult to feel sorry for anyone except the kids.
The story is very predictable but the film is okay. There are some nice characters. The two ...

...Region 2 DVD from Ebay that cost under £5 including p&p, which is just about as cheap as they come really... its a single disc that includes the following subtitles - English, Arabic and Hebrew.
Other special features included on the DVD are:-
* The Big Bounce - A Con in the Making - A fairly brief (around 10 minutes) documentary about the movie where the main stars talk about their characters and the movie in general
* Wicked Waves: Stunt Surfer Outtakes - About 12 minutes of footage of surfers surfing in Hawaii. They use some similar footage during the movie, between scenes, to remind you of the setting I suppose. There are some pretty cool stunts done here, if your a surfing fan then this is definately worth a watch. Personally, thats something I like to watch but wouldn't want to try to emulate!
* Surfing the Pipeline - This is...

Advantages: great atmosphere Disadvantages: not the greatest live band
...The bouncing souls are a punk band from new jersey and are well known for their catchy melodies and very upbeat rhythms.
Thy were formed in 1987 and are one of a few punk success stories to ever come out of new jersey.
They are quite well known in the punk scene however don’t really get any radio play over here apart from some punk shows like the lock up on radio one I once heard them on.
Some of their songs have been features in video games such as Tony Hawks pro skaters games.
This DVD from them is great, I must admit that there not the best band live, however the atmosphere they give out is great and there a band I would love to go and see live in person.
However they mainly tour USA and only rarely come to the UK so next time they do I think ill try to get tickets to see them.
The thing I like about this live DVD which...

DVD Description
When Buddy Amaral (Ben Affleck) decides to have a casual fling with a woman he meets in an airport, he gives up his ticket to Greg Janello (Tony Goldwyn), an earnest man on standby for the flight who is desperate to get home to his wife and child. But when the plane crashes because of snowy conditions, killing everyone on board, Buddy plunges into a sea of despair and confusion. At the edge of a nervous breakdown, Buddy seeks out Abby Janello (Gwyneth Paltrow), Greg's widow. He approaches Abby, who works as a real estate agent, under the pretense of finding a new location for his advertising agency. But, he never reveals that he knows about her husband's death. While his only intention is to do a good deed for the grieving Abby, Buddy slowly finds himself falling in love with her, and she responds to him with a similar sincerity. The only thing keeping them apart is the dark secret that Buddy is hiding. BOUNCE is writer-director Don Roos's follow-up to his engaging, clever, independent debut, THE OPPOSITE OF SEX. Like that film, BOUNCE examplifies Roos's knack for writing witty dialogue and using it to make a intelligent, sweet films.
