Bottom Series 1-3
========= Created by Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondson. Bottom was made from 1991 to 1995 and contained 18 episodes over 3 series.
Cast: ==== Richie Richard (Rik Mayall). Richie is a sad, lonely, pathetic, desperate, ill washed with XXXL underpanted (well you get the picture) excuse for a man. But he has big dreams and believes he is destined for better things, like lying on a desert island and "snogging all the birds a fella can grapple with".
Edward Elizabeth Hitler (Adrian Edmondson) (who's mothers name is unbelievably, Adolf). Eddie is a gregarious, drunken (when he can fiddle the money out of Richie), Gambling, extrovert who sponges off Richie at every occasion.
Supporting cast includes: =================== Spud gun. Dave Hedgehog. Dick Head, the Landlord of their local pub. The 3rd Viscomptress of Moldavia, Lady Natasha Letitia Sarah Jane Wellesley Obstromsky Ponsonsky Smythe Smythe Smythe Smythe Oblomov Boblomov Dob.
Location: *****************************= A squalid flat in Hammersmith upon which Richie pays the rent with money he in turn sponges of his aunt.
Synopsis:
*****************************== The boys live together in the filthy flat, jobless, hopeless, obsessed with women, beer, food and fighting each other, well nearly killing each other every episode. They have a hate/hate relationship and it is shown in some of the most violent slap stick every to be seen on TV.
Richie is the feminine of the 2 mates constantly cleaning, well after a fashion. The more he cleans the dirtier the flat becomes, generally including the destruction of walls or kitchen appliances.
Eddie takes the role of jobless layabout obsessed with betting and DRINKING, and he really can drink. On several occasions he pulls out a full pint from somewhere within the large overcoat he wears.
The pub is where they try to pick up girls, but in the Lamb and Flag, Richie usually ends up getting violently assaulted. Being sexist's doesn't help their cause!
The fight scenes set this comedy apart from all others with everything from frying pans to refrigerators being used to inflict damage on each other. Every episode is filled with "Double Entendres", risqué comments and sexual innuendos.
The 3 DVDS contains all 18 episodes from the three series;
Series 1 ======= 1. Smells The boys go to a sex shop to buy some pheromone spray to attract the 'Birds'
2. Gas The boys have been fiddling the gas and then the gas man knocks on the door.
3. Contest The miss world competition is on the telly and Richie gets horny.
4. Apocalypse Eddie tries to frighten Richie to death by dressing up as eerr well 'Death'.
5. 's Up The boys get left in charge of a friend shop and end up locked on the roof.
6. Accident Its Richies birthday and he ends up with both his legs broken.
Series 2 *****************************= 1. Digger Richie pretends to be a duke at a dating agency and guess who he ends up with? The 3rd Viscomptress of Moldavia, Lady Natasha Letitia Sarah Jane Wellesley Obstromsky Ponsonsky Smythe Smythe Smythe Smythe Oblomov Boblomov Dob.
2. Burglary The boys catch a burglar in their house, cellotape him to the ceiling then check out his loot.
3. Culture The boys try to play chess, although they don't know the rule and only have 5 pieces.
4. Parade Richie and Eddie get into a fight in the Lamb and Flag with a Falklands veteran. (Played by Robert Llewellyn)
5. Holy My favourite episode where Richie thinks he's Holy and oh yes don't touch the CURRIED SPROUTS!!
6. 's Out The boys go camping but are soon starving, so Eddie decides to catch and eats ......a WOMBLE!!!
Series 3 *****************************= 1. Hole Eddie and Richie end up at the funfair on the big wheel and then the wheels goes on fire.
2. Terror Halloween and the boys decide to go out with an electric cattle prod to 'round up' some girls.
3. Break The boys are of on holiday to Doncaster but never quite make it.
4. Dough Eddie starts to forge money and makes some £27 pound notes!
5. Finger Richie and Eddie 'borrow' a friends car and then borrow his honeymoon as well!
6. Carnival Watching the carnival from their window is incredibly entertaining, especially the violence.
The chemistry between Rik and Ade is clear to see, the slapstick is excellent and so unbelievably funny.
The characters are superbly written and very nicely matured. Only those people with no sense of humour or a nervous disposition will find themselves unsure of this it comedic merging of Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondson.
The less said about "Guest House Paradiso", the better.
DVD extras are few, only English subtitles and three 15 minutes blooper reels. Language: English Region: Region 2 Number of discs: 3 Classification: 15
