that many consider to be his best work. Panna plays an ex-cop turned private eye, who is paid mega-bucks by a Hong Kong agent to look for a lawyer who is on the run from a big Hong Kong syndicate calling themselves the Black Dragon Gang. The Lawyer also happens to look like the father of a local Thai kingpin and soon Panna finds himself up to his neck in trouble - not only has he to deal with the Black Dragon and their ninja-style assassins but also the kingpin's Thai boxers, swordsmen and biker gang before he can deliver the lawyer into safe hands.Untold action, insane stunts and the realistic foot-to-face action we except from Thailand's best. In fact the film was so popular that Panna went on to make two sequels in 2003. This is the first time this film has been released outside Thailand.

Advantages: Stunts look as real as they come! Disadvantages: in Thai
I had recently watched 'Ong Bak' and the back of this dvd said; 'does for stunts what 'ong bak' did for martial arts'. Now, if you have seen ong bak, that is a hard statement to live up to. However, I definitely think the film delivered. The stunts are mostly done without wires thus, what you see is what you get. It is definitely worth seeing for the wow factor.
The stunts themselves are not limited to one type like many other films ... ...football with a couple of gymnastic moves in there which allowed for a very big range of stunts you never thought possible and I'm sure there must have been a couple of broken ribs whilst trying to do them all.
However, saying this, the storyline isn't that strong and again with many thai films coming out, there is comedy where really you need it to be serious, but luckily this is only in a few of places.

The stunts themselves are not limited to one type like many other films you get. It had everything from thai kickboxing to football with a couple of gymnastic moves in there which allowed for a very big range of stunts you never thought possible and I'm sure there must have been a couple of broken ribs whilst trying to do them all.

I'd say its a good film and I'd definitely watch this space for more outstanding martial arts based thai films!
Advantages: Great story, Excellent acting from all Disadvantages: Very moving in the second half
parts in the film.
The story was very good and quite believable. The way it was brought to the screen made for some great viewing which at times would have me laughing and a few minutes later I would be sitting there fighting back a few tears.
The DVD which I have does have a few bonus features which include:-
BorntoFight - Producers round 15
James Lipton Takes on Three
We have not watched these features as I am personally not interested in them but hubby says he would like to get around to watching them so when he does I will update this for you and let you know if they are any good.
The film was Directed by Clint Eastwood and I was surprised when I found this out as I had no idea he was into this side of film making. The film has a running time of 127 minutes and all of which are fast moving and I did not find I was ...
Advantages: Wonderfully understated story and performances Disadvantages: Dramatic shift in tone may be off putting for some
the performances have been and how they've drawn you into the story. The film successfully side-steps cliché and schmaltz, and Clint certainly has the courage of his convictions. At turns moving, funny and shocking, Million Dollar Baby is a compelling, character driven drama which never pulls it's punches.
Visual and Audio
Lovely picture presented in Anamorphic Widescreen 2.40:1. The coulours are particularly sharp, especially so in the fight scenes. The sound is presented in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround with English subtitles optional. The sound is very good, again the standouts being the fight scenes where you can hear every resounding crunch. Overall it's a good transfer.
Bonus Material
Borntofight (19 mins)
This is the tried and tested DVD extra in which the cast talk to the camera before being repeatedly interrupted by footage ...
Advantages: Great acting, brilliant story Disadvantages: Emotional
battles against the odds. If you haven?t seen this you simply have to.
The DVD is available from play.com for £5 which is real bargain for such a fantastic film.
The special features include:
'BornToFight': an in-depth look at women in the ring
'Producer's Round 15': producers Al Ruddy, Tom Rosenberg and Paul Haggis tell the story of how the book by F.X. Toole "Rope Burns" made it to the screen
