Borat is a film which can keep you laughing for a couple of days. Written by Sacha Baron Cohen and directed by Larry Charles, it is a film that has comedy and also sarcasm to a great extent. Borat is a journalist and actor in the movie. Borat was Kazak born in the village of Kuzek in Kazakhstan( The filming took place in a village in Romania). His parents are Asimbala Sagdiyev (mother) and Boltok the Rapist (father). By the way Boltok the Rapist is also his grandfather. Borat has attended Astana University, where he studied English, journalism, and plague research. He hates Uzbekistan greatly, and refers to them as assholes, and also claims to have killed 5 million goats in Uzbekistan by inventing 5 new plagues. He is around 35 years old, has married Oksana who is killed by a bear, while taking his retarded brother for a walk in the forest. He shows no religious affiliations. He mocks women and does not believe in suffrage for women. He believes that women have the brains of a squirrel. He likes to play ping pong, and loves to sunbath in a mankini. He is an admirer of Stalin.
Plot: Borat and Azamat meet with the Kazakh Ministry of Information, and decide that Kazakhstan needs to learn a lot from western culture. Together they create the mockumentary Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, with Borat Sagdiyev as the protagonist. Borat and Azamat set out to America. Together they try to interview people, often getting snubbed in the process. There is nothing much in the plot; but most of the situations which are depicted in the movie really took place, and they can really get you rolling on the floor holding your stomach. Most of the people being interviewed have no idea that they are in a movie. There is an instance where Borat interrupts a live television, and it is really hilarious. Borat is curious about knowing the kind of jokes that interests Americans. He asks whether joking about "funny" retards, and making mother-in-law jokes is okay with Americans. Sometimes he is ridiculously naïve. After spending some time in America, Borat gets to know that his wife was killed by a bear. Borat is very happy to hear the news. Now, he falls in love with Pamela Anderson. He forgets his mission, and makes the pursuit of Pamela his new mission. He is unsuccessful in his mission and finally marries Luenell, an African-American prostitute he met while filming his documentary. He returns to his native Kuzek, and converts the town to Christianity. Cohen is really ingenious. His ability to deceive the interviewee is awe inspiring. It is really in his demeanor which takes people off guard. Although vulgar, Cohen wins you with his smile. Cohen and Davitian get along very well. Although, they have demeaned Kazakhstan, and women, the context does not make you angry. Fine movie with a fine cast. Screenplay is good; and direction by Larry Charles is quite fine. Cast:
