Bob the Builder has been around since 1999, and has been a childrens favourite. It is a great programme that has stood the time and has now been popular with children for nearly ten years!! Bob the Builder is a construction worker who runs his own construction business in Bobsville along with his friend Wendy, All of his construction vehicles have characters of their own and are involved in many projects and adventures.
Wendy - Wendy is Bob's business partner who helps him with the day to day running of the business. she is involved in the construction side of the business but also runs the office and keeps an eye on general organisation of everything. Spud - Spud is a scarecrow that is always getting himself into mishaps and trouble. He is supposed to be looking after Farmer Pickles crops but he always gets distracted by things around him. He tries to be helpful where he can, and can always be heard saying "Spud's on the Job!"
Farmer Pickles - Farmer Pickles is a farmer nearby who give a hand to Bob and Wendy. He also contracts Bob the builder and his machines to do many jobs for him on his farm. There are five main machines at Bobs construction company - each has a character of their own and can talk.
These machines are: - Scoop - Scoop is a yellow backhoe loader - he always appears to have taken the role of unofficial leaders of the machines and he is loud spoken and his saying is "No Prob, Bob!"
- Muck - Muck is a red Bulldozer that also has an extra dumping bed - he is often getting himelf into trouble and bad situations as he does things without thinking first. But when he realises what he has done he always tries to fix it - his saying is "Muck to the rescue!" - Dizzy - Dizzy is an orange concrete Mixer and she is the only female Machine in Bobs yard. She appears to be much younger in character than the rest of the vehicles and is very enthusiastic and curious about everything around her. Her saying is "Brilliant!"
- Roley - Roley is a green steam roller and is one of the biggest of Bobs machines. He is pretty quiet and is a hard worker. His saying is "Rock and Roll!" - Lofty - Lofty is a blue crane and one of the more endearing characters. He is nervous and timid and very apprehensive about everything that goes on around him. He never leads a crowd but follows them instead, voicing his concerns and fears. When asked "can we fix it" he always responds with "Er...Yeah. I think so!"
------------------------------------------------------------------- - Other machines in the program include: Scrambler - Scrambler is a dark blue quadbike - he haas started to become alot more involved in newer episodes of Bob the Builder and his sayings are "Awesome!" and "Scram to the valley!"
Travis -Travis is Farmer Pickles' tractor. He keeps an eye on Spud the scarecrow to make sure he is doing his job properly and he also helps out Bob and his crew when they need an extra hand. Dodger - Dodger is a light blue milk machine and is owned by Meg His job is to carry milk and you can recognise him coming by him honking his horn. His saying is "Dodger delivers!
Benny - Benny is a dark Pink female Excavator Packer - Packer is a red pickup truck, and he is owned by Farmer Pickles. His saying is "Pack me up and watch me Go Go"
Scoot - Scoot is a black and yellow snow mobile and he is owned by Tom, which is Bobs twin brother. Sumsy - Sumsy is a red & yellow striped fork lift Tractor and he is also owned by Farmer Pickles - her saying is "I can pack 'em, I can stack 'em!"

Bob the Builder - Series 1 - Complete DVD
My son had this bought for his third birthday and it has kept him entertained for hours. He has always been a big Bob the Builder fan and has so many of the toys and Books that we feel the house is being taken over by Bob and his Crew.
However, my son would be upset when he couldn't watch Bob the Builder when he wanted to - he had to wait for it to appear on tv, and as soon as it was finished he asked for more.
The DVD was a godsend as it contains over 130 minutes packed full of Bob the Builder episodes. The complete series contains 10 Episodes of the adventures and mishaps of Bob and his crew. Episodes such as when Bob and his crew take part in races through Bobsville, when they are repairing barns and even an episode where they are hunting for a nose that has gone missing!
I am happy for my son to sit and watch this DVD as I feel Bob the Builder teaches lots of ideals to children - it teaches teambuilding, being friends, sharing, and working hard to achieve results.
I would highly recommend this to any parent who is looking for a Bob the Builder DVD for their child. It is fun packed, entertaining and educational. It is also fantastic value for money and is a timeless classic that can be watched time and time again by your children and their friends. I would say this DVD would be suitabe for children from the ages of 1 right through to 6 - although I will say that some adults seem to love it too -as I have caught my husband watching it many a time!!!
