Firstly this film has been slated a bit by critics but I have to say that I think its really easy going comedy at its best - and I am not one who is easily amused!
Anyway just watched this film on DVD this morning with the hubby and I have to say I howled and so did he.
Cuba Gooding Jr. is in the starring role and this bloke is so funny - i just love his films - especially in Snow Dogs - one highly infectious actor who can make you laugh without even trying.
Anyway Jerry (Cuba Gooding Jr) has just broken up with his rich girlfriend Felicia (the girl who starred opposite Will Smith in Independence Day) -he has asked her to marry him and she drops the bombshell that she has been sleeping with someone else and rejects him.
So heartbroken Jerry spends time at home mourning the loss of his love.
Enter Nick who is Jerry's best friend and the one who decides he needs to live a little - he decides that what they both need is to take a cruise - so they head off to the travel agents to book themselves onto the hottest cruise of the century -drink and women a plenty - or so they think!!!
What actually happens is that Nick upsets the travel agent who in revenge books them onto a GAY cruise liner!!! - 2 hot blooded males and a boat full of homosexuals.
So all their male fantasies are out of the window - its men, men and more men and gay ones at that.
Whilst on board Jerry meets a beautiful Latin dance instructor Gabriella (Roslyn Sanchez) and falls head over heels in love - the trouble is he must pretend to be Gay because this a strictly gay cruise and she is not impressed by over sexed males - which Jerry is - but matters get complicated when both Jerry and Gabriella start to feel the heat of mutual attraction.
Nick meanwhile is chased by a rich business man ( Roger Moore 007) who won't take no for an answer.
Anyway the story is about the antics of Jerry and Nick - pretending to be homosexuals just so they don't get thrown off the boat - and ultimately so that Jerry can pursue his love for Gabrielle.
Most memorable seen is when Cuba dresses up in a peacock kind of costume and sings "I'm Coming Out" by Diana Ross to raptures of applause from the homosexual audience and complete disgust from his ex Felicia who has searched the ends of the earth to find him - she now thinks he has been gay all this time - one of the most humorous parts of the film.
So the ending - watch it and see!
This film is a complete send up of homosexual men - completely over the top and typically stereotyped.
Bit rude in places so not one for the kids- but a very funny film.
A must be seen in my opinion.
