STORYLINE… After breaking up with his fiancée, Jerry finds himself devastated and can think of nothing else. Luckily his friend Nick decides to book a cruise holiday in the Caribbean hoping to get "lucky" and relieve Jerry’s problems.
After complications the two friends find themselves on a communal gay cruise. Jerry and Nick are desperate to get of the ship so nick gets a little drunk and shoots a flare gun to capture the attention of an over flying helicopter. The helicopter crashes and Nick fears the worst.
The passengers of the helicopter were picked up in their life craft. Luckily it was the answers of their dreams for Jerry and Nick as it was the Swedish tanning team (which are bikini clad throughout, great!). Also onboard jerry meets a dancer named Gabriella (who can i say is the most absolute gorgeous babe in the world! Played by Roselyn Sanchez.)
Jerry must pretend he is gay as Gabriella is quite cynical about men. The two get on very well and various antics occur. Unfortunately for Jerry His ex (his fiancée) comes back on board the ship. Gabriella cant believe it as she fell in love with him, and so he decides it would be best to get married to his fiancée.
Thanks to his best friend Nick, whom rebels to the wedding and with the gay friends he met on the ship Jerry wins back Gabriella by parachuting into the pool that she saved his life in! (Yes it may seem a little far-fetched but truly a class movie).
OVERVIEW… The film is extremely funny and will have you in tears. It is based around a comic, uncertain; love story so there’s something for everybody! It really pulls it off. There is not one moment in the movie where you feel for a second of looking away it really does capture the attention for 93 minutes.
Acting is very strong by Jerry (Cuba Gooding jr) and his friend Nick (Horatio Sanz). They certainly pull off the roles of 2 straight guys acting gay to get laid! My favourite of course Gabriella (ROSELYN SANCHEZ = absolutely yummmmy!) gives a smashing performance, as the sweetheart. Even Victoria Silvstedt (yes lads the playboy star) who plays the main Swedish tanning team member who likes Nick gives a pretty decent performance considering she’s a porn star. Roger Moore the bond star who plays the Gay queen brings a lot of comedy as it is far from his tough rugged role in his bond films.
There does seem to be a little corn, which is expected from the storyline, but this does not affect the film at all as it was still outstanding. Generally though the film does keep in the realms of normality as its possible it could happen to you if you really annoyed the holiday booker, its possible! Although unluckily for you it is doubtful that you will shoot a helicopter full of beautiful women down! (or men if your female!)
The soundtrack to the movie is great and suits it perfectly and really builds the atmosphere of the film. At the end of the film you get a great “feel good” sensation and are very glad that you spend some of your life watching it!
CONCLUSION… The film is extremely fun and has you giggling throughout. It’s almost mad! The film is not predictable whatsoever as many outrageously but great things happen.
It would probably suit the teenage and 20/30 age group better as they could maybe relate to this better? (Please don’t be offended by this I may be wrong what do I know!!)
It’s certainly a trip to remember! The feel good movie of the year for me! Its the only homophobic voyage ive ever seen il say that, which is interesting in its self as its an unusual concept. Certainly not a shipwreck of a movie.
PS. IT’S WORTH WATCHING FOR ROSELYN SANCHEZ!!
