- Plot -
After being crushed that his girlfriend didn't agree to marry him, Jerry Robinson friend Nick decides to cheer him up by taking the two of them on a holiday, where he could find a potential new partner.
However, the manager of a local travel agents get annoyed when the Jerry and Nick mouth off about another colleague who was rude to them, who just happens to be the managers friend, so he gets his revenge by changing their holiday tickets from a singles cruise (for both sexes), to a gay cruise.
It takes a few hints after they first climb aboard before the penny finally drops and much hilarity ensues, at least thats the basic story anyway.
- Genre/Type of Movie -
This is what I'd classify a bawdy, somewhat crude at points, comedy.
- Thoughts & Opinions -
This movie is quite 'carry on' like, with the jokes being quite bawdy at times.
Cuba Gooding Jnr. I thought did quite well as a comic actor in this role, with his over exaggerated facial expressions adding to the sense of farce.
A group of Swedish models end up having to make an unscheduled stop on the cruise but the group are watched over by a manageress who's particularly strict about the girls not being oggled at or having any contact with straight people, then, as well as this, after an incident Jerry has he meets a lady who he's particularly attracted to but that isn't comfortable around straight men, so he has to try to keep up the impression that he's gay.
Its pretty predictable stuff really, the jokes aren't especially clever or witty but more crude and I suppose the term (I just made this up I think lol) sexual slapstick could be applied, though its not seriously graphic as this is a 15 rated movie, not an 18. Anyway if you know what the movies story is, then you can't complain too much I suppose as what would you expect of such a movie anyway? so yes its nothing particularly special or groundbreaking but there are some fairly funny moments, it is amusing to see them get out of their depth (so to speak) and end up in some daft situations.
I feel its also worth pointing out that Roger Moore appears in this movie, he's in a few scenes as one of the people on the cruise who takes a shines for Nick. I thought he was pretty funny in it, its almost worth watching it for those scenes alone, if you like this sort of movie then you should find those scenes quite funny.
- DVD -
The DVD only offers by way of extras, the official movie trailer. It also offers English subtitles as well as English, Spanish and Swedish language versions.
- Would I Recommend It? -
Overall I was a little disappointed that this movie was as predictable as it was, really. However it does have a few amusing scenes and Cuba I felt gave a pretty good performance in his role (one of the last scenes on the cruise will make you see him in a different light, which you should find pretty funny, put it that way!).
The movie does have a few amusing parts and I think that if you can catch it on TV (its been shown on FilmFour lately) and it sounds like something you'd enjoy, then it may be worth watching or taping and possibly rent it if you have an unlimited rental scheme but otherwise, I wouldn't go out of your way just to catch this, there are so many more interesting and funnier movies around really. This movie is one for Cuba Gooding and Roger Moore fans but perhaps not so much for others.
Also please be aware that this review, as about all my reviews will be, is posted on both Dooyoo and Ciao under my username which is the same name on both sites (IzzyS).

...I had seen advertised – Boat trip. I bought my tickets, and off we went to watch the film.
~~A little of the plot: ~~
The main characters are Nick (Horatio Sanz): Nick is an overweight guy, who is trying to help his friend over a broken relationship. His friend (the other main character) is Jerry: Cuba Gooding plays Jerry. Jerry was in a hot air balloon proposing to his girlfriend, when he vomited all over her dress. Needless to say this ... ...over her) appears on the boat to make it up with Jerry. It’s by sheer coincidence that Gabriella informs her that it is a gay cruise. Eventually reconciled Jerry finds he’s way to the altar with his girlfriend. But will he go through with it? Will it be stopped? ~~My thoughts~~~
The film has a lot of innuendo of the adult nature, and do we really want to see huge ice penises shooting water? Another scene sees Gabriella asking Jerry (whom ...

Advantages: Funny Disadvantages: Bit rude - not for the kids
...hot blooded males and a boat full of homosexuals.
So all their male fantasies are out of the window - its men, men and more men and gay ones at that.
Whilst on board Jerry meets a beautiful Latin dance instructor Gabriella (Roslyn Sanchez) and falls head over heels in love - the trouble is he must pretend to be Gay because this a strictly gay cruise and she is not impressed by over sexed males - which Jerry is - but matters get complicated when ... ...don't get thrown off the boat - and ultimately so that Jerry can pursue his love for Gabrielle.
Most memorable seen is when Cuba dresses up in a peacock kind of costume and sings "I'm Coming Out" by Diana Ross to raptures of applause from the homosexual audience and complete disgust from his ex Felicia who has searched the ends of the earth to find him - she now thinks he has been gay all this time - one of the most humorous parts of the film.

Advantages: Some humour, good looking actresses Disadvantages: Not hilarious, crude
Boat Trip is a fairly reasonable comedy. I was expecting something a bit like American Pie, but I find this was more like a sort of grown up carry on film.
It starts with Jerry a sort of nice guy romantic (played by Cuba Gooding Jnr). He decides to propose to his long-term girlfriend in a hot air balloon. An odd decision as he suffers from motion sick. It ends in disaster, as he is sick over her. She declines and reveals she is having an affair ... ...his friend Nick (Horatio Sanz) decides to help him out. Nick is the sort of a role John Candy would have played; an annoying, overweight fellow who isn’t at all malicious but still may well be best avoided. Nick had meet a friend at a party who had got himself a gorgeous girlfriend; apparently they meet on a cruise. So Nick persuades Jerry they need to go on a cruise to get some women. Unfortunately Nick upsets the travel agent and the end ...

Last stop was to visit Spencer in the orange house as she wanted to learn about figure skating and making patterns on the ice. Spencer agreed to help and they set off to the ice rink (which is in East Kilbride shopping centre, if anyone from Scotland recognises the rink). This episode is around 20 mins long

Advantages: Watch this if you feel too clever Disadvantages: It's all the same old stuff
...When in a bored state it is easy to pick up a DVD to pass the time, especially when it's one by the same producers as Road Trip and Old School. I saw BoatTrip, and if that wasn't a bad enough addition to the 'Trip' series of films (even though I'm pretty sure they're not created by the same people), then Euro Trip was an even bigger disappointment. A 2004 release with an 'UNSEEN' label stuck on and an almost half naked girl, lets see what's really wrong with this.
The opening credits are quite comical, they're done in cartoon style, similar to those who have seen the beginning of 'Catch Me If You Can'. On the cartoon the characters are poking fun at the rules on a plane, as well as all different sorts of situations, and I suppose this could be one of the best things about the film. In the actual film there isn't much ongoings...
