There is a new extreme sports craze sweeping the community: Blood Surfing. In this incredibly dangerous sport, surfers purposely choose waves in shark-infested waters. A video crew heads out to Australia to document the new obsession, and get way more than they bargained for. Swimming amongst the sharks is an even more evil monster: a thirty foot saltwater crocodile with a taste for human flesh! One by one, the crew is picked off, and land is no safer than sea.
...Blue crush was released in the UK in March/April time as it dawned on British Summer. It was released in the USA in the summer of 2002, but after a successful debut, was not released here, as winter was drawing in and it seemed an inappropriate time to debut a summer surfing film.
The film makers itself originally wanted surfers to audition, and teach them how to act. However this did not stop many actors who couldn't surf, trying to audition and inevitably, these were the people that got the parts and had surfing stunt doubles.
New actress Kate Bosworth held the starring role as Ann-marie, an aspiring surfer from a young age, now in her early 20's, living in surfing capital, Hawaii. Advantages: Ace teen movie Disadvantages: kinda cringy in places
...Without a doubt this is my all time favourite movie and it has been for ages since the first time i saw it. It is about three friends, one passion and no limits.
Anne Marie eats, drinks and sleeps surfing. With the help of her best friends Eden, Lena and her rebellious sister Penny, she is totally focused on winning the toughest surf competition in Hawaii. But when Handsome pro quarterback Matt tollman comes into her life, like it or not, Anne Marie starts loosing her balance.
There are some superb surfing scenes in this film and it also makes you have a better understanding of surfing.
Actors include Kate Bosworth (Anne Marie), Michelle Rodriguez (Eden), Sanoe Lake (Lena), Mika Boorem ( Anne Marie's little sister) and Matthew Davis (Matt Tollman).
