Advantages: Wonderful animation, superb characters, sparkling plot Disadvantages: Gut-wrenchingly short, very minor sound issues
Edit: [ Sorry everyone, I'm not sure why my review is infested with links to largely irrelevant searches ]
Blood for me was one of those films you pick up because you're in town, it's cheap, and you have no sense of control. Five minutes and seven pounds later, you own another DVD to cram somewhere onto your bulging film shelf.
I'm not sure to this day why I picked it up; I have a loathing of vampires that borders on the maniacal and yet, when I secluded myself in my favourite armchair with a few snacks and a drink, I was captured from the first moment to the last (although I did spend a few minutes screaming to the effect of "Is that all?!")
Blood: The Last Vampire is a breath-taking film from one of the masters of anime (I don't care how many people try to call it 'manga'; manga style animation is called anime, animation, anime ...
Advantages: Breath-taking. Disadvantages: Some may feel it is too short.
Blood: The Last Vampire, (B:TLV), arrived on my doorstep this morning from Tesco DVD rentals, (www.tescodvdrentals.com). I was very excited when I spied the distinctive red and blue envelope as knew one of them contained B:TLV. I couldn't wait to watch this film as I had read so much about it, good and bad and I just had to find out about it for myself.
Blood: The Last Vampire is an "Anime", (Japanese for animation), film by Production IG and Manga. Anime has come to mean any Japanese animation in Western countries. Manga is a very popular Japanese brand who produce comics and TV/Films. For more information on Manga go to www.manga.com but be warned it is an ugly site. A lot of people incorrectly refer to all Anime as Manga in the same way that people call vacuum cleaners "Hoovers".
Being animated some people may feel that this ...
Advantages: Both quite good for the money £2 Disadvantages: Film quality of the second feature isnt great.
very slowly.
Jude Law was about and acting in the 70s.
When the vampire was hunting Elvira down cause she needed the blood of a virgin why didn?t Daninsky do the honourable thing? (You know what I mean)
Leather jackets stop knives. Checkered shirts don?t.
Who I?d Punch
Daninsky?s mad sister. I didn?t like her cheek bones one bit.
Overall
I wouldn?t recommend it. You the average person (even if you are on Ciao) won?t like it. If you?re the type of person who would like this film then you just know. It wasn?t anything special to me and if I got saw the other Daninsky films going cheap I might give them a go. It?s a cheap DVD set with The Screaming Skull added on. Not to be sniffed at. Also bear in mind The Werewolf vs. The Vampire Woman is dubbed. Quite well to be fair but it is noticeable. The Screaming Skull is probably ...
When Dr. John Pierre (Vincent Ball) is falsely accused of practicing medical heresy, he is sent to a remote castle prison run by Dr. Callistratus (Donald Wolfit), a maniacal scientist who specialises in strange diseases of the blood. Aided by violent prison guards and a creepy hunchback, Dr. Callistratus proves to be much more than he seems. A moody Gothic horror film in the grand Hammer tradition, penned by famed terror scribe, Jimmy Sangster (Curse of Frankenstein, Horror of Dracula).
