Advantages: Family fun Disadvantages: Very farfetched
actor. I?ve never seen any of the other major cast members before, but they all did a reasonably good job.
It was nice to get away from Imhotep as well. Despite the fact I loved the first two movies, I think regenerating Imhotep would have been a step too far, and having any other Egyptian mummies rising from the dead would have been the same old, same old.
The special effects were good, except for the yeti which looked totally naff. The fight scene more than made up for it, it?s amazing how much personality can be put into a CGI character. The soundtrack as normal went right past me; I don?t recall any scores that really stood out during the film.
There are only two extras on the DVD; Deleted and Extended Scenes and a feature commentary with the director Rob Cohen.
I know a lot of people didn?t like it, but I loved it and would ...
Advantages: Good CGI, lots of action scene! Disadvantages: Too many to mention!
Released this year, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor is the third installment in The Mummy series of movies. The movie is directed by Rob Cohen, who also directed such films as The Fast and the Furious and XXX. The movie stars Brendan Fraser and John Hannah, as in the first two movies, and also Maria Bello, who replaces Rachel Weisz, and kung-fu legend Jet Li.
Alex O'Connell (Luke Ford) has followed in his father's footsteps to become a leading archeaologist. Alex uncovers the tomb and remains of the Ruthless Emperor Han (Jet Li) in China, who centuries before had been turned to stone, along with his 10,000 strong terra cotta army, by sorceress Zi Juan (Michelle Yeoh), for betraying her and killing her loved one. Emperor Han is awoken from his 2,000 old curse as a mummy, and sets about finding the source of eternal life and plans ...
Advantages: New Mummy Disadvantages: Same old Storyline
Okay, First off I'm not here to bash the Mummy. It is one of my favorite film trilogies of all time. The first two films I felt were pretty decent attempts at action movies and I enjoyed paying to watch them.
Then I heard that the Mummy 3 was being released...So I rented it...and reviewed it.
Acting and script ***
There isn't much to say about the acting in this film. It's hardly up to the standards of an Oscar sweeping epic but then again it isn't an Oscar sweeping film. The acting is believable and enjoyable and it never really made me cringe the way some other action movies have done in the past (Charlies Angels 2 anyone?)
The script is pretty generic, there's nothing here to astound you into silence. And In my opinion some of the Comedy parts are telegraphed so much you could probably predict them before the movie even began ...
