Advantages: Some nice location work. Disadvantages: Slow and plodding.
...to the photographer who is using the tomb as a background for his photoshoot. The process to get the Mummy on his feet seems to take ages. There are constant shots of him steaming and writhing but it takes forever for him to get out of his sarcophagus. There is no tension built, you just keep thinking "Wake up for Anubis' sake!!!"
There is some nice location work shot in the deserts of Egypt and around the Pyramids. The most endruing sequence is where a load of mummies emerge from the desert sands as the sun sets in the distance. It looks really good actually, but it doesn't come until 44 minutes in which is half way through the film. They had great monsters but they are hardly in the film.
Its not until 10 minutes before the end until anything really exciting happens. This is when the horde of mummies attack the village. There could have been more...

Advantages: Karloff, Johann, Freund, the make up and chilling atmosphere Disadvantages: The new Mummy movies have kind of made people forgot

...and contained the map of the city of dead. Now Evie (Rachel Weisz), her brother Jonathan and O’Connell (Brendan Fraser - George of the Jungle, another great film) set off to find the buried treasures of Hamunaptra. That’s if another set of archaeologists and tomb raiders don’t get there first.
After an exciting race, the two groups both start searching for the hidden treasures that are supposed to be hidden in the underground catacombs but there is a little problem. The direct descendents of the Pharaoh, who protect the sacred land, try to stop them from finding the mummy and unleashing the curse.
The first part of the curse is started after Evie, O’Connell, and Jonathan open the tomb, which holds Imhotep. The second part of the curse is started after the other group of archaeologists open a box containing 5 sacred jars...
