DVD Description
Based on a popular manga, BLEACH is a thrilling anime series about a 15-year-old boy who was born with the ability to see ghosts and who uses his special power to protect the living from evil spirits. This volume introduces the supernatural anime series with the first eight episodes.
Advantages: distracts the children Disadvantages: not funny, humour very simple and mostly slapstick or toilet houmour.
...and has ruined the image of Mr Bean for me. At first I was curious and quite excited - I had hoped the comedy would be on the same lines as the original but I was wrong.
The soundtrack is mostly orchestral with symbols, drums and flutes to emphasise dramtic turn arounds and Beans thoughts. The vocals, as the televised original series is basically mumbles and whimpers with the odd 'ooooo' sound. Another thing that irritates me is the fact that they have tried to modernise him and have given him a girl friend, not that that ever get together, lord no, what would happen to teddy, where would he sleep!? Irma Gobb is more a romantic interst whom Bean tries to impress, but rarely suceeds.
In this single DVD volume you get 8 episodes, each lasting about 15minutes in length and include; 'In The Wild', 'Missing Teddy', 'No Parking', 'Bean's Bounty...

Advantages: Great character design. Interesting Stories Disadvantages: A bit short.
...as twenty 3 minute shorts which were pretty much stand alone with a few common plot threads running through. Rather than squeeze all the cast members into 3 minutes they dedicate episodes to one or a few characters, for example Mace Windu and Yoda both have their own episodes. However to me 3 minutes is just too short and you're left wanting more. On the DVD these episodes are edited into a single episode which works pretty well and is much more satisfying. You can watch the individual episodes too if you like.
The series itself compliments the prequels very well and in a lot of ways works a lot better than those films. This feels a lot more like the Star Wars of old - fun, action and adventure. This may just be that we find the kind of story the Prequels tell more acceptable in animated form. Or, without wanting to get too Star Wars...

...Red Dwarf series1 - 4
~Starring~
Dave Lister.
(Craig Charles).
Begins his journey as a tone deaf, idle, useless, curry loving, carefree or should that be careless, scruffy slob.
But his character develops
Arnold J Rimmer.
(Chris Barrie)
Arnie is the most cowardly, back stabbing, regimented, and pathetic life form to ever call itself human. But Arnie, or big man to his friends, has the biggest transformation of them all because he ends up becoming Ace Rimmer the multiverses greatest hero, what a guy!
Cat.
(Danny John-Jules)
The offspring of an idiot and a cripple, he is the most vain creature in all of the multiverses.
His character never really changes.
Dwayne Dibbley.
Cats alter ego, the geakiest, (if there is such a word) squarest being to ever exist. With Zero fashion sense...
