Blame it on the Bell Boy was released back in 1992 and has some what missed out on good reviews and gossip which is surprising.
THE STORY First we have Melvyn Orton ( Dudley Moore ) is going to Venice to look for some properties for his boss, Maurice Horton ( Richard Griffiths ) is an overweight middle aged man on a secret blind date set up by a dating agency in Venice looking for a quick no ties attached romance, and Mike Lawton ( Bryan Brown ) plays a high paid Mafia hit man in Venice. These Three men all stay in the same hotel Gabriella in Venice at which time the real fun start's.
The Italian Bellboy ( Bronson Pinchot ) at the hotel Gabriella struggles with communication in English, so Linguistic mistakes begin to happen. As you probably have noticed so far in my review you have three fairly similar sounding surnames ORTON, HORTON and LAWTON, so now the hilarious mix up's begin. You have Orton ( Dudley Moore ) getting mixed up with the Mafia, Horton has gone on his blind date with a very stunning bamboozled Estate agent ( Patsy Kensit ) and Lawton is about to terminate his target a "shy Woman" on a lonely hearts dating trip, this all in turn leads to a riveting climax
MY VIEWS As I've stated I think this farse was very much underrated (Probably by the Americans) although there are some out there who agree with me. Blame it on the Bell boy is bursting with humour and had me in hysterics, total fun throughout. Watch out for Hortons wife Rosemary who turns up at the Gabriella hotel (horton's the one on a secret blind date). The film is nicely put together, the location is great and the acting is good.
