I was a big fan of the first film so when this film came out at the cinema earlier this year I had to go and see it at the Birmingham Odeon on its first weekend at it was worth the £4.50.
Director: Guillermo Del Toro (mimic, hell boy 2004)
Cast: Wesley Snipes (Blade, The Art Of War, ZigZag) Kris Kristofferson (Payback, D-Tox) Ron Perlman (Enemy at the gates, Alien resurrection) Luck Goss (ZigZag)
Run time: 1hr 57 min Cert: 18 price: £11.99 www.play.com with free p&p
The story:
Blade 2 is as good as the first if not better, this time he must help the vampires who where trying to kill him in the last film because they are being preyed upon by a new breed of vampires ‘the reapers’, blade has no choice because the reapers will come after him in time.
The reapers are just as powerful as normal vampires but do not have the same weaknesses like garlic and silver, the only way to kill one is with light. To help blade track down and kill all the reapers he enlists the help of the ‘Blood Pack’ a group of vampires who are specially trained and originally intended to hunt down and kill blade but now they team up to hunt down the reapers together before they takeover the whole world, because when the reapers bite a human they turn into one of them and each one has a very big appetite for blood so in a matter of weeks there could be thousands.
This film was mostly filmed in the eastern Europe to cut down on costs but with the great locations they could afford in Europe the film looks much better and it has more action than the first as well as better special effects due to the money saved by filming outside the USA being spent on other things. Wesley Snipes gives a very good performance as the ‘day walker’ blade and he has already signed a deal to star in blade 3. This film does have some mistakes like in one of the fight scenes after he gets a massive blow to the head he gets up and his sunglasses are still on his head without a scratch on them.
I recommend if you have not seen it you watch blade 1 before seeing this film because you will understand more of the plot. Also a word of warning: in parts this film can be a bit gory liked the part when blade and the vampires have to open up one of the dead reapers to find out there weaknesses and it is very graphic. This film made had a budget of $55million and made $81million in the USA and £9million in the UK.
Overall I think this film is great and you should see it, its got great martial art sequences as well as some brilliant computer generated special effect and stunts.

I must admit I'm a big fan of this film and loved them both. Can't wait for Blade 3, Steve.

I love both balde films i was wondering where they would go after the fist one and was impressed with the second one. Did you notice cat from red dwarf playing one of the vamps that helps blade. Good op!

Advantages: The film rocks, loads of features on the disc which are well presented and entertaining, great video and sound transfer, just a stonkingly good DVD all round Disadvantages: Umm...well the film is going to be too 'cartoonish' and gory for many and with this many extras you could lose an entire Friday...umm, like I did lol
