Blackadder has to be one of the greatest British comedies the BBC has to offer and Rowan Atkinson plays the part of Edmund Blackadder very well in all four series.
In the first series, Blackadder is the cowering but cunning son to the King and is the lesser of two brothers. This was a good series and i particularly enjoyed the last episode where Blackadder gains a crowd of murderers and thieves to help him kill his nemesis, although they end up killing him!
The second series in my opinion was the second best with Edmund Blackadder this time as a 16th century lord or something with relations to the spoilt Queen.
The third series was good but the worst of the Blackadder series as Edmund Blackadder is a butler to the childish Prince of Wales. The series gets in some funny remarks like, "Oh bugger off you old fart!" but in general, it was disappointing.
The fourth, last and best by far Blackadder series was Blackadder goes forth. Captain Edmund Blackadder is on the front line in World War 1, but desperately trying to get back to Blighty and avoid death. The series ends with an emotional end as the soldiers, frightened as they go to their deaths, climb over the ramparts and charge into No-Man's Land as machine gun fire and bombs explode around them.
Blackadder has been very funny in all with random comments and the great peformances of Baldrick and George in every series. The soundtrack is also memorable and i would recommend watching all the series in order to anyone who has never seen them.
