Black Sabbath In Concert DVD

Advantages: An excellent funny movie - great performance by Black
Disadvantages: I'm NEVER impressed by DVD extras anyway

...Humor and Drug references’. So I guess that means that a large proportion of the cast can’t go to see it for at least 2 years! Seeing the film on the big screen AND buying the DVD has to be some sort of endorsement, especially from an old skinflint like me. I’m never quite sure, when writing about a DVD specifically, how much mention of the film itself should be made – so if you haven’t seen it at all, and don’t want to know the plot, skip the next section. PLOT SPOILER ALERT!!!!! The adult stars include Jack Black (of Hi Fidelity fame – he was the scary acerbic shop assistant who never seemed to want to part with any stock, unless it was going to a good home) and Joan Cusack, John Cusack’s somewhat lesser known sister, who by coincidence was also in Hi-Fidelity. Advantages: Visual + Audio Showcase of a live session
Disadvantages: Could of been more of the show on the 2nd DVD

...What an excellent DVD. Comes in 2 DVD edition, but the 2nd DVD is more the 'Making of' type of thing that you generally get in a 2 DVD set. The first DVD - is the actual show that went on in Gelredome Arnhem on 29/30th October 2004. 25,000 tickets were sold for this show, one of the largest in the world to attend to watch / listen to just 1 single DJ. The actual event itself lasted for approx 8 hours, with a cut down 200 mins on the first DVD of the actual show. If you like DJ Tiesto, then I highly recommend getting this DVD, especially if you have your DVD player linked to your AV Receiver / Surround Sound System, will sound truley amazing. Advantages: Brilliant concert, interesting production clips, high quality, good narrative.
Disadvantages: Some of the guest performances are a bit short and disappointing.

...Having been lucky enough to see Jay-Z in concert before he 'hung up his mic', I think I am in a good position to give a review of this DVD. The film is based on the Madison Square Garden performance in 2003, shortly after the realease of The Black Album. The film is narrated by the man himself and he talks about some of the highlights and events of his career, leading up to the release of the album and this film. It is very well directed, with production and backstage scenes interspursed with the show, which covers songs from several of his albums. The backstage scenes arent the best, but the production clips are good, as you get to see how the songs are put together and the end product. The producers include Kanye West, Pharell and Rick Rubin, but in my opinion the best scene is when Timbaland plays Jay-Z the 'Dirt Off Your... Read review
