Icelandic avant-popster Bjork released this video shortly after her first solo album, DEBUT. The wholly unique star sings her way through a live performance that includes most of the tracks off of DEBUT, plus a few others. And notably, the director here is music video auteur Stephane Sednaoui, who is perhaps best known for creating the silver drenched world of the Red Hot Chili Pepper's "Give It Away."

Advantages: Trails a great thread Disadvantages: The thread is a little long
...Dancer in the Dark made me cry like no other film has. Not Titanic (nope nope), not Armageddon (I'm a little ashamed to admit it, I boo-hooed), not even The Pianist or Schindler's List moved me as much as this.
It is hailed (on the back of the DVD case) as one of the most controversial films of recent years (released in 2000), as well as being self-proclaimed "groundbreaking, compelling and utterly unforgettable".
I've heard all those promises before... But this time they're true! (Imagine that).
Lars Von Trier directs- who is also famed for Dogville, and Bjork is the main star. When recommended this film I distinctly remember guffawing and scoffing at the mention of her name. Her? Acting? Sure, she can sing very very well, but to command the attention of a demanding audience member such as myself, oh no no no...
Her being cast...

Advantages: To die for audio Disadvantages: could easily have been cd case size but noooo
...I rviewed the SACD version a while ago and then bought this version as i believed there was not much difference in the audio compared to the ordinary cd.
When i first played the disc, i instantly noticed the difference, it is way better and more mature than the ordinary CD that was released previously.
You can clearly hear Bjor's vocals from the front and centre, its almost has a lovely haunting quality.
Show Me Forgiveness has a clever provoking lonliness quality to it you really feel for the woman but its way too short a track for this DVD release.
Considering its a all vocal album it has been amazingly remixed, shaped and modelled to fit in with 21st century music. it has that bass sound, drum machine, choirs, rhythm. All made by human voice, manipulated and programmed to make a joyous work of art.
If you remember...

Advantages: It might turn into a masterpiece halfway through, but life's too short to bother. Disadvantages: I have a max of 255 characters in this box, my list would take up far more than that.
...I just don’t know where to start really…
I had been eager to see this film for absolutely ages, and so when my library got it in stock I took it out immediately.
I wonder whether it is a good idea to try and write a review on a film that I didn’t actually see through to the end. I got half way through and just couldn’t stand it any longer – I don’t remember that last film that I didn’t watch to the end. This is how bad I think this film is…
**So What’s It About?**
Bjork plays Selma, a single parent Czech immigrant who is losing her sight rapidly. It is a hereditary condition that is operable, so she has been saving hard, working long hours in a factory, so that her 10 year old son will be able to have an operation when he is 13. She is determined that he will not inherit her...
