Happy Madison productions are now involved in making bigger budget comedy films such as Little Nicky, but the ideas and the company name came from two earlier films, Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore. This film is based around 'spoilt rich kid turned good' plot, and features many of the cast you will notice in the later films such as Little Nicky.
Billy Madison (Sandler) spends his time partying, knowing one day he will inherit his dad's hotel business. Eventually his father tires of his antics and decides to give the company instead to someone else. Finding out that his dad has paid for his grades throughout his education Sandler decides to go back to school to complete his education properly, and convince his dad that he is good enough to run the company.
Every grade he passes brings about a huge party, and the friends he makes stay with him throughout the film. The twist in the tail comes when the man Sandlers dad had chosen to run the company tries to thwart his plans to pass each grade. In the end Billy challenges him to an academic decathlon to test them. The film climaxes with an appearance from Steve Buscemi as a sniper v. funny!!
Adam Sandler's comedy style is omnipresent, with subtle in-jokes thrown in all over the place. As with most of his films, it will take several viewings in order to appreciate most of them.
Overall, an odd but overall funny film. The Steve Buscemi cameo is fantastic and the school bus driver is also extrememly funny. When the whole cast breaks into song, however you will probbly be scratching your head.

Advantages: Its mindless rather than mindnumbing. Giving you a good laugh without making you think. Disadvantages: Not remarkable and falls flat in places.
