Advantages: Some good on board cameras and footage Disadvantages: Very complex menu system
...F1 Review 2000
Formula one in 2000 was a good season. It was the first Year on the grid for Britain's Jenson Button and you get to see Michael Schumacher fighting it out with Mika Hakkinen. 2000 was also the year where David Coulthard won his second British GrandPrix so there is plenty to celebrate, and there is plenty of action when the Monaco GP is red flagged and restarted.
At the Italian GrandPrix a Race Marshall was killed (this is not shown) and this was said to have effected Schumacher's form but that doesn't stop him taking the title.
As with all Formula one reviews this DVD does contain all the best action from a great season.
You are able to choose how you would like to watch the DVD. You pick the race event and then u can choose to watch the continuous version where it then allows you to pick the chapter...

Advantages: Includes breathtaking real racing footage, and cameos by real drivers of the 1960s! Disadvantages: None!
...Being a fan of modern era F1, I wasn't sure about GrandPrix until I saw it.
This has to be the BEST racing movie EVER!
This film is packed with racing from start to finish - Monte Carlo (looked a bit different then!), Spa, Brands Hatch, Monza (including racing on the old banked circuit!) - it was made in conjunction with the 1966 F1 season, and includes genuine racing footage from races that year, as well as appearances by drivers such as Graham Hill & Jochen Rindt.
How tame and safe modern F1 feels after watching this!
Made before the era of computer special effects, it makes it all the more astounding how fantastic GrandPrix the movie is - at several points where there is in-car footage you find yourself leaning with the car in to corners - something that I can't say I've done before watching a DVD on the small screen...

Advantages: Brilliant footage, lots of it, flexible. Disadvantages: The races weren't very good in 2000, useless menu system, typically poor commentary.
...tense, which really doesn't work. The uncredited commentator on the 2000 season DVD exudes an irritating sense of false excitement, probably because the whole thing was scripted in an editing room.
Unfortunately the single greatest factor that has a bearing on how good this review is, is how good the 2000 season was. And, as many F1 fans will tell you, it was one of the least exciting for several years. The first half of the season in particular was very processional, with the exception of Britain, Europe and France. The latter, along with the Belgian GrandPrix, are the two best races on the DVD, with genuine overtaking and passing making for great action.
Regardless of whether you're a Schumacher fan or not, the ending really is something of a damp squib. The last four races see an Italian GrandPrix marred by death, the first US GP...
