Advantages: Special effects are quite good, suitable for all Disadvantages: It's all been done before
...Deep Impact is another film to go with the likes of Armageddon and Independance Day where the world is doomed and will we all survive.
It stars Morgan Freeman as the President of the USA amongst others, and centres on the fact that a rather large asteroid is coming towards earth at a rapid rate and there's nothing anyone can do - sort of.
A spaceshuttle goes up to try and blast the asteroid to bits and save the world, but when the mission fails, the only thing they can do is land on the asteroid and blow themselves up at the same time, hoping that this rather desperate measure will be enough.
The special effects are quite good, especially when the asteroid hits and the waters rise.
The plot is a much-for-muchness as there have been quite a few films with this sort of plot. The good thing about it is that there's very little bad...

...Armageddon is one of my favorite films. I like bruce willis so I would put this film in the top ten with the special effects you will see.The story of the film starts when the spaceshuttle atlanta gets hit by an asteroid shower while doing routine work and blows it up, then the asteroid shower starts to hit New York. While this is happening an ateur astrolger looking through his telescope sees a massive explosion in space. He informs nasa of what he has seen, so they look into his observation and find to there horror that there is a massive asteroid heading straight to earth. They calculate that it will destroy the entire planet, so a bunch of scientist get together and decide the only way to stop it is to blow it up, but using nukes would not work because the size of is to big. The only other way is to drill holes...

Advantages: Mathilda May when naked (pretty much the whole time) Disadvantages: FX quality is inconsistent
...of the film was that of a simple monster movie.
The plot is simple enough. It's a mix of Ghostbusters, Night of the Living Dead, Space Vampires, with a bit of Halley's Comet (the harbinger of evil, called 'disaster,' the word for 'evil star'). It's the year of Halley's Comet, August 9. The spaceshuttle Churchill, on a joint British-American mission, approaches the comet. When an alien vessel is found 'hidden' in the comet's cone, Colonel Tom Carlson investigates to find big dead bats and three humanoids in suspended animation. The humanoids are brought to the shuttle but, when the shuttle returns to earth, the crew is dead, the cabin is burnt; only the aliens are intact. They are sent to the European Space Research Center in London where they are watched over by Bukovski and Fallada. When the spacegirl awakens and sucks the life out of a guard...
