This is a fantastic comedy and one that many of you will enjoy if you haven’t watched it. It’s a really good family film to watch. Perfect for night in.
It stars Sonny played by Adam Sandler, he also starred in the Wedding Singer. He’s this ‘laid back type of guy’ and has been dumped by his girlfriend for a more responsible guy.
But, when a five year old boy-Julian arrives on his doorstep he can prove everyone wrong. We all know the responsibility that comes with looking after a child...
How the boy gets to Sonny?…..well long story but the mother who’s very ill close to her death in fact had a one night stand with Sonny’s flat mate but he’s away and Sonny get’s the responsibility. So, there’s two kids-one literally and one at heart….and it’s time for fun.
The comedy starts and Sonny realises the joys of parenthood. Some excellent moments when he tries to toilet train the kid, lots of accidents. He does look for help with the Social services but his reunited with Julian when he finds that he will after stay in a home.
And when the social services try to separate the two, it’s not easy. The bond between the two is very strong……
Court room drama prevails with Sonny making an excellent speech… but what will happen well watch it and find out. The level of acting is excellent, some really male antics like when Sonny teaches Julian who becomes known as Frankie how to trip people up and of course we have all seen the front cover.
The film is certificate 12 and makes good family viewing, there’s very little swearing that I can remember and make a good 1 ½ hour viewing.
Overall the film has a good story and the antics which lead from the story are excellent, laughter, emotion the lot. A film that will keep you interested right until the end.
